Hello Supper Club friends,
I must say.... I have always loved the concept of what I call Lunchwine. What’s more luxurious and reminiscent of vacation than a casual glass of wine with one’s lunch?
It seems to demand a picturesque life having absolutely nothing to do or planned, in the very middle of the day, for several hours. Absolutely LOVELY.
When friends ask me what I do on vacation, its plan absolutely nothing, and have some lunch wine whenever possible. This is how one knows one is on vacation.
In this spirit, I would like to invite you to our next Supper Club; themed Summer Lunchwine with The Doc. In the spirit of celebrating dads (see our previous club and father’s day is JUST around the corner), I will be writing a menu based of some of my father’s (the doc) favorite flavors and dishes, OF COURSE paired with delicious wine offerings from the fabulous Andrea-
For those of you unfamiliar, THE Doc is a real person, my dad, Dr. Steve Kissel. He is terrible at the concept of Lunchwine, and probably works through his lunch most days doing doctor things. So, I thought maybe we could convince him to try it out with a delicious Lunchwine-themed dinner.
So, for the dad that firmly believe celery and peanut butter is the perfect meal, I have designed a menu that will go something like this, (and feature produce and meats from Chandler’s, Meadowbrook, Amelia’s Breads and Beasley’s Orchard):
dietary accommodations of course available as requested
starting bites
pan con tomate on Amelia’s sourdough, fried small fish
chicken liver mousse, fried buckwheat, honeyed rhubarb, preserved Meyer lemon
Main options (choose one)
fried catfish, celery/tamarind/peanut salad, braised beans
corn-flour fried pork chop, local strawberry, crispy potato, ricotta
Cheese course
soft herbs salad, really good olive oil, local honey, Capriole cheese
dessert course
apple + peanut Bostock (French toast from Normandy)
Supper starts Sunday, June 14th at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $55 per person. Wine pairings TBD but guaranteed delicious.
