It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or at least planning for Christmas 🥴.

For the last few years the Putnam County Fraternal Order of Police has hosted a free community event “Christmas at the Courthouse”. This event could not be possible without the generous donations from our community members.

For those not familiar with the event, I will provide a summary. We open up the courthouse for a holiday celebration. We have pictures with Santa, crafts, snacks and gifts for all children in attendance. This is a completely free event hosted by local law enforcement.

Our goal is to continue this event and keep it completely free for the community. We have averaged 300 children the last two years at this event.

We are looking for monetary donations to continue this event. All funds collected will go toward this free Christmas event, as well as “Santa Drop”. Santa Drop provides Christmas gifts to families in need in our community. We are also looking for sponsors to fulfill Christmas lists for families. I provide the children’s wish list, you shop and we wrap and deliver. We can help so many additional families in need through sponsorship.

Our community has been so supportive of this event and we hope to continue this for years to come.

Today was our Shop with a Cop event. We had a great turn out from both families and law enforcement. These events wouldn’t be possible without the continued support of our local community. If you are looking for ways to get involved, feel free to reach out.

2025 Cherries and Berries 5K Color run and family fun day is in the books. Special thanks to our community partners , sponsors, FOP members, students from Area 30 Career Center law enforcement program, Greencastle Fire Department, Putnam County EMS, Blessed Brushes ministry, We Be Bouncin LLC, Robert St. John for the DJ work, event coordinator Amanda Brown for putting all this together, and the participants for attending, to make our event a success.

We are less than 48 hours out from our family fun event. Here is some extra information about the upcoming event!

•Bracelets are available for $5. Bracelets can be purchased with cash or card. Service fee for card use. Bracelets are needed for balloon animals, bounce houses and face painting.

•The color run will start at 4pm. Same day registration is available for $25 and with a signed consent. Extra shirts are first come, first serve. Packets can be picked up at any time during the event, starting at 3pm. Packets will be with raffle baskets in the shelter house.

•Raffle tickets are available for purchase in the shelter house with cash or card. Tickets are $1 per ticket, 7 tickets for $5, and 15 tickets for $10. Raffle tickets can be placed in the box of your choice. Winners will be chosen at the end of the event and contacted for scheduled pick up.

•Food trucks take cash and card. There will be 4 food/drink trucks at the event.

•There will be a K-9 demonstration between 4-5pm.

•The event is from 3-6pm at Big Walnut Sports Park on May 10, 2025.

This event is to honor the 486 Indiana Police Officers that have been killed in the line of duty. This event will start National Police Week. Each registration packet honors an Indiana officer. We run for the fallen. Blessed be the Peacemakers.

All registered participants also get a bracelet for other fun activities and raffle tickets to be used at our various raffle baskets.

What will $5 get you?

I’m glad you asked! $5 will be the cost of a bracelet at our family fun day.

$5 bracelet includes unlimited times with our three bounce houses, face painting, balloon animals and temporary tattoos. There will be plenty of photo opportunities with our counties first responders.

Bracelet is included with registration to the color run.

Join us for a family fun day on May 10, 2025, from 3-6pm with the Fun 5K starting at 4pm. Event is at Big Walnut sports park.

We will have three food trucks and a coffee truck, as well as a DJ.

All money raised from this event will fund yearly FOP events like Shop with a Cop, Santa Drop, Christmas at the Courthouse and more.
