Congratulations to our 2026 Community Art Exhibition People's Choice Award winner, Saraellen Peters!

Title: Lakota Dancer
Year: 2026
Medium: Watercolor
Description: A ceremonial dance performed by the Lakota Dancer at the Crazy Horse museum in South Dakota.

Artist Statement:
I have always been interested in drawing. I majored in art & music at Butler University and attended a drawing class while at Butler at the John Herron School of Art in Indianapolis. I also studied art and music at Indiana State University. I have attended art classes with local artists and have enjoyed sharing painting and drawing get-togethers with close friends. Portraits are probably my favorite type of art. I painted with oils and pastels in the 80’s and 90’s. After I retired I decided to try watercolor. This medium is challenging but very rewarding when it all comes together. I have been commissioned to paint pieces that keep me expanding my talent and I am so grateful for that. If I can give a gift of a painting to someone or satisfy someone who has requested a painting then, for me, that is the best part of art.

Come hear Sara Campfield explore a historical view of the landscape changes in Putnam County that came primarily through land drainages for agriculture in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the impact on the landscape we see today!

Sara is the director of the Putnam County Soil & Water Conservation District and is on the parks board. She volunteers with PC RIP, a group that removes invasive plant species around Putnam County.

The event is scheduled for Monday, September 28th, at 6:30pm.
