The commissioner will highlight workforce challenges in Montana agriculture, including seasonal labor and H‑2A, and share some apprenticeship and training pathways that help producers build and retain a skilled, local agriculture workforce.

As Commissioner, Swanson has led efforts to modernize workforce systems, expand apprenticeships, and reform occupational licensing, impacting nearly 200,000 licenses. She also helped advance the 406 Jobs Executive Order, aligning statewide workforce initiatives to expand career opportunities for Montanans. As a native Eastern Montanan with a background in agriculture, she is full of insight on this topic, and we are excited to welcome her to Summer Conference! Judging competitive events requires a 4-6 hour commitment or more if you want, and you’ll be guiding students towards success in college and their future careers.
