Have we mentioned how much we love SSD sitters!? Anytime a raiser needs time away and can't take the pup in training for any reason - awesome volunteers to the rescue!

Wade is currently spending time with a newer sitter and is loving the attention of being an only dog for the week! Added bonus - he is getting tons of leash walks with new places to sniff!!

Super thank you to all the sitters for all the dogs they welcome into their homes!

Yesterday was SSD's Open House! This is the 2nd year and Wade again was invited to help out in the Puppy Raiser area. He greeted a lot of people, and the kids really liked him! Very proud he was able to handle the crowded space filled with humans and other working dogs too!

This was a great spot for some dog training! We had human bathroom practice, tons of greetings with all the kiddos in the play area, fun unders, elevators, navigating tight shopping areas, ignoring dog toys marked as clearance that rang up full price (and then we're not purchased!)

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, my favorite walks are exploring the SSD grounds with my dog off leash! It's great to practice recalls and reminds me of the many walks with scotia and the cats... This was Logan's first time joining me, and it was fun watching him explore nature too!

This week marks a big milestone for the Fisherman litter! All 4 boys are in the kennel for IFT (In For Training) for the SSD staff to get a better look at each dog and what their future will be. The dogs get to live in the kennel overnight for 4 nights, work with staff onsite and out in public, go through another temperament test similar to what they did at only 8 weeks old. It. This is the first time staff will start making career choices - who might be a breeder, who might be spayed/neutered and continue in the program, who might be better suited for a different career like ATF or CIA, or maybe it is determined a dog doesn't want a working career and chose to be a VIP (very important pet).
