At our regular weekly meeting, we welcomed a new member to our club. Welcome to Roger Nafziger. We are glad you are a part of our Maple City Kiwanis club.

Our guest and speaker was Brad Rogers, who is a volunteer for Project Lifesaver. Project Lifesaver provides a wristwatch style tracker to Alzheimer and dementia patients. The device helps immediately find the patient if they walk away from their home environment. 

In that type of event, the clock is ticking. With a Project Lifesaver device, authorities have found 100% of the patients within the first 30 minutes after leaving their home.

Brad is also an Elkhart County commissioner, and spoke to issues in the county.

With the holiday season just around the corner, local food pantries are experiencing heavy demand to support area families. To help make sure shelves are fully stocked, Goshen Community Schools is hosting a district-wide Food Drive next week, November 9–13, to support The Salvation Army!

How to Give:
Students & Families: Send non-perishable food items directly to school with your student all next week. (If your child's school is already hosting an existing drive, a portion of the collected goods will go directly to help replenish The Salvation Army’s pantry as well!)
Community Members: Donations are warmly welcomed at the GCS Central Office (613 E. Purl Street) during normal business hours.

Check out the attached flyer for the full list of most-needed food and personal hygiene items—any unexpired, in-date items are greatly appreciated! Thank you for your generous support of Goshen families this season!

Con la temporada navideña a la vuelta de la esquina, las despensas de alimentos locales están experimentando una gran demanda para apoyar a las familias de la zona. ¡Para ayudar a asegurar que los estantes estén completamente abastecidos, Goshen Community Schools está organizando una colecta de alimentos en todo el distrito la próxima semana, del 9 al 13 de noviembre, para apoyar a The Salvation Army!

Maple City Kiwanis hosts the Land of Lakes division council meeting. This was the first of the 2026-2027 Kiwanis year.
Kiwanians from around our division came together for breakfast prepared by our club.
Also joining us is the current Indiana Kiwanis Governor Greg Ayers. Governor Ayers joined current MCK President Jon Walmer and Land of Lakes Lt. Governor Steve Chupp.

The Maple City Kiwanis Club hosts Trick or Treat in Reverse.

Our annual event was held today at Evergreen Place Assisted Living facility at Greencroft in Goshen.

Every year our club members, our kids and grandkids get dressed up in our Halloween costumes and Trick or Treat in Reverse to the residents.

Instead of residents giving us candy, we give the residents carnations to brighten their season.

Our guest and speaker at our regular weekly meeting was Katie Miller-O’Leary, the Executive Director of the nonprofit that operates the Goshen Theater.
Katie spoke about the offerings at the theater. This weekend, local performers will present “Godspell”. Other programming at the theater includes educational offerings, a concert series, joint prefects with the Boys & Girls Clubs and more.
This Halloween season, on Friday, October 30, there will be trick or treating for the kids and a free presentation of the movie “Monsters, Inc” afterwards. Then at midnight, adults can enjoy a free screening of “Rocky Horror Picture Show”.
