Students and staff at Model Elementary raised over $10,000 during this year’s annual Kids Heart Challenge, with all proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association. Our foundation was proud to contribute $1,000 to support such a meaningful cause.

Over the past several weeks, the gym was transformed into an interactive obstacle course where students learned about the heart, how it functions, and the importance of staying physically active. In addition, students gained valuable life-saving knowledge, including hands-only CPR, how to recognize the warning signs of a stroke, and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

From our family to yours, we wish you a very blessed Thanksgiving! We are beyond thankful for the support you have given us through Wade’s foundation over the years.

Because of your generosity, we were able to make a donation to Goshen High School to provide food for more than 40 families.

What makes this especially meaningful is that our grandson, Colin—who is a counselor at GHS—played a key role in leading this drive. To see him helping and giving back to the community just like his grandpa did fills us with pride and gratitude.

The Chief Wade K. Branson Foundation was proud to make a donation to First Light Mission during the baseball tournament between the Goshen and Elkhart Police and Fire Departments in support of such an important cause.

Congratulations to GPD for games well played! If Wade were still here, there’s no doubt he would have been involved in some way—maybe not playing (although he was the home run king back in the day! 😁⚾️), but most certainly supporting the Goshen officers.

Great job, Shawn Turner, for stepping up as umpire for the day!

Today marks seven years since the passing of our former Police Chief, Wade Branson, who passed away in 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Chief Branson was more than a leader. He was a steady presence, a man of honor, and someone whose strength and compassion shaped the lives of so many.

He left an unforgettable mark on this department, this city, and most of all, his family. He loved them deeply and without condition. As a husband, a father, and a grandpa, he was their true hero.

Wade’s leadership, dedication, and heart are still felt within these walls. He was not just our Chief; he was our brother and our friend. We miss him more than words can say, but we are grateful for the time we had with him, the example he set for all of us, and the memories he left behind - and oh, there are plenty!

To his family, please know that we are holding you close in our thoughts and prayers today. We recognize the depth of your loss, and we share in your grief. Wade may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.

This foundation was establised by our family after Wade’s passing on June 25, 2018 as a way to honor him for his service as a police officer, for his leadership as Chief, and as a way to give back to a community he loved. As we move forward without, we will plan events to raise money in order to help individuals in need and organizations that were dear to Wade’s heart. We thank you for your support!
