My brother, D

uggan, battled alcohol for over 25 years. He was told he had a disease, that he’d always struggle, and that the only solution was lifelong abstinence—while the rest of society continued drinking. He tried so hard, but in April 2023, he lost his battle. My college roommate and best friend currently lives in a memory care facility due to alcohol induced dementia. We were shocked to find out in 2020 that alcohol had permanently damaged her brain and she was fully disabled at 40 years old. After COVID and early motherhood, I found myself drinking too much. I feared admitting it, believing I’d be sentenced to a life of struggle. Truthfully, I had used alcohol since I was 16 years old and believed it was the ‘glue’ that kept my life together. Then I discovered This Naked Mind. It didn’t require willpower—it changed my beliefs. Suddenly, alcohol lost its appeal, and I’ve been effortlessly alcohol-free since November 2022. That realization changed everything. I wanted to create a space where others could safely question alcohol’s role in their lives—without judgment, stigma, or shame. That’s why I founded Perfectly Made A.F.—to expose the truth about alcohol, challenge the double standards, and empower people to break free in a way that feels right for them. exists because everyone deserves the chance to experience this same freedom—regardless of their financial situation. No one should struggle the way my brother did. No family should have to watch their loved one battle alcohol alone, relying on willpower while suffering alongside them. Unfortunately, most free programs offer little beyond abstinence. Every new star added to this sky represents a life that is changing because one life was lost too soon.

My brother’s story ended, but his impact didn’t.

Today, we celebrate Star #17. ⭐

Each star represents one person who has received a Perfectly Made A.F. scholarship and is now walking a new path toward freedom from alcohol.

Because recovery is deeply personal, these stars remain anonymous. But behind every star is a real human being. A parent. A spouse. A son. A daughter. A friend. A life being transformed.

When my brother, Duggan, lost his battle with alcohol in 2023, I wanted his life and our loss to matter. And here we are friends!!

Seventeen people who now have access to education, community, coaching, and hope.

Seventeen reminders that alcohol is the problem-not the person.

Seventeen opportunities to rewrite a story.

Seventeen families whose futures may look different because someone was given a chance.

Every time a scholarship is awarded, we’ll add another star to this sky. Not because we’re counting participants, but because we’re honoring lives.
Lives that matter.
Lives that are worthy of freedom.
Lives that remind us that even in loss, light can continue to shine.

Duggan’s light is still reaching people he never got the chance to meet. And that is something truly precious.

Felt timely for a few reasons - but the one I will focus on today is that all of my life-changing, magical last few years started with a Schitt’s Creek journal! Bc if you don’t have humor on your path, than I don’t recommend it 🤪💕 my self discovery is literally found in this one journal that I have in my night stand as my most treasured journal bc 2022 will forever be the year I started moving pebbles into future beautiful mountains!

Found a note from a journal today and it reminded me of one of the simple moments I had at the beginning of my alcohol free adventure. It really did start with changing the question bc lucky for the alcohol industry I kept saying I passed the ‘alcoholic’ test which is so lame. And manipulative. And left me in an unhealthy relationship (alcohol) with no perspective. Try changing the question. do you feel good? Or do you want to change something about your relationship with alcohol?

Magical evening continued with a pretty darn good NA wine and delish food. Vacations use to be kind of one of the harder things to do alcohol free, but I have definitely turned a corner where I’m beyond grateful to enjoy every minute of it. Rest, recharge, enjoy, explore. It’s worth the uncomfortable feeling of change to get to this side! I am so proud of my 42 year old self for being brave and scared and doing a big thing.

I spent the evening in a magical place - an AF person’s dream honestly - dancing with the cosmos, singing to the mts, and watching the stars. It was a heavy day in the news and this was a beautiful reminder how precious our life is and how important it is to connect with the sky to recharge and gain perspective. Honestly got me so excited to dream about the possibilities of our next Perfect Gala 2026 ⭐️✨🎶🏔️💕
