We work to end poverty and gender inequality through the education and empowerment of women leaders in Peru.

Peruvian Hearts works to end poverty and gender inequality by educating young women and creating community leaders in Peru—one girl at a time. Peruvian-born Ana Dodson developed this nonprofit organization to enable young women to embrace education, believe in their own power, and dream of a life beyond the conditions into which they were born.

She is now working toward her professional title, researching the water quality of thermal springs in her hometown, crucia resources her community has depended on that have never been formally studied.

This year, PH Scholars Ariana and Marisa took their Chemical Engineering coursework to an international stage, representing UNSAAC at the AIChE Latin America Student Regional Conference, hosted this year in Honduras. 🤩

As part of the ChemE Brew competition, teams are challenged to develop an original beer from scratch, calculating mass balances, alcohol content, and bitterness levels, then transporting it under controlled temperature and pressure conditions and presenting it to a technical sensory panel.

Ariana and Marisa brewed QOSQO BITTER, an India Pale Ale, transported it from Cusco to Honduras, and placed second! 👏

At Peruvian Hearts, we celebrate the result. What we are most proud of is the determination it took from Ariana and Marisa to get their team there. ❤️

Every June 24, Cusco celebrates Inti Raymi, the Festival of the Sun and the most important day of the year in the Inca culture 🌞

In Quechua, the native language of the Inca, Inti means "sun" and Raymi means "festival". Each year, thousands gather at ancient Incan sites across the city to honor their heritage together. For generations, Inti Raymi has stood as a powerful expression of Andean cultural pride.

Peruvian Hearts Scholars celebrate alongside their community and invite you to experience the celebration of Inti Raymi and to honor your own roots and heritage.

Today we are celebrating International Women in Engineering Day. ⚙️🥳

Globally, only 16.5% of engineers are women.

At Peruvian Hearts, we know women don’t just belong in engineering, they excel there. 🤩

Currently, 12 of PH Scholars are defying the statistics and pursuing degrees in engineering including:

• Systems Engineering
• Electronic Engineering
• Geological Engineering
• Chemical Engineering

We are incredibly proud of these young women. ❤️ Breaking barriers isn't easy!

With determination and courage, these women engineers are changing the future for women that come after them by demonstrating what is possible. Thank you for enabling us to support women in engineering! 🙌🙏

Congratulations, Ingrid! ✨🥳

She just earned her bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, paving a way forward for women in STEM! 💪

While a student, she led research to develop an affordable AI tool to detect a destructive pest, the coffee borer beetle, in the coffee fields of her own region in Cusco. The pest threatens the harvests and livelihoods of hundreds of thousands of farming families across Peru, with existing solutions being toxic and unobtainable.

Her research was recently published in an international peer-reviewed journal and her work is now to implement and scale the solution through her thesis.

This is why Peruvian Hearts invests in women leaders. Not just to earn a degree, but to become women like Ingrid, who dream to utilize their education to serve others. ❤️
