What a great opportunity for our Sea Cadets today!

Our Cadets had the opportunity to participate in hands-on marksmanship training at the Cape Ann Sportsman's Club!

A huge THANK YOU to the members of the club who generously volunteered their time to provide our Cadets with a delicious breakfast before heading out to the range. The members then shared their knowledge and experience, providing hands-on instruction and coaching as our Cadets worked toward earning their Marksmanship Ribbon.

A total of 12 Cadets participated, shooting .22 caliber pistols while following the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) standards.

We are proud to announce that 7 of our 12 Cadets successfully qualified and earned their Marksmanship Ribbon! 🎯🏅

Congratulations to those who qualified, and Bravo Zulu to all our Cadets for their effort, determination, and willingness to learn!

We are extremely grateful to the Cape Ann Sportsman’s Club and its members for supporting our youth and providing this outstanding training opportunity. Experiences like these help our Cadets develop discipline, confidence, responsibility, and an appreciation for fi***rm safety.

🏁🏆 DYNASTY! 4-TIME FISHBOX DERBY CHAMPIONS! 🏆🏁

What an incredible drill day for the David G. Ouellet Division, U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, at the annual Gloucester Fishbox Derby!

⚓ We started the day with a well-deserved promotion!

During our morning formation, we had the honor of promoting PO1 Zamora to Ship’s Leading Petty Officer (SLPO), the highest rank achievable in the League Cadet program! Zamora has worked incredibly hard and waited a long time for this moment. His dedication, leadership, and perseverance have finally paid off.

💪 Then it was time to get to work!

Our cadets were assigned working details throughout the event, helping set up the racecourse, secure street intersections, and assist families with parking. Their hard work helped make today’s race a success!

This year, our division entered TWO cars into the competition!

Overseeing both pit crews was our newly promoted SLPO Zamora, who shared his experience and knowledge to help both teams prepare for the competition.

🏁 THE COMPETITION WAS FIERCE!

Cars were flying down Gloucester Avenue, with race times separated by mere tenths of a second! Every run counted, and there was little room for error.

After two qualifying heats, BOTH of our cars posted combined times fast enough to advance to the TOP FOUR FINALS!

We couldn’t be prouder of our cadets, both on and off the racecourse. Whether they were racing down the hill, working in the pits, or helping run the event, they represented our division with pride, professionalism, and teamwork.

Everyone’s favorite drill of the year today at Boston Helicopters, Lawrence Municipal Airport. The staff was great as always, giving the Cadets an excellent block of instruction on how the helicopters work and are able to fly. Then, Cadets were giving the opportunity to go up in the sky, some brought their fathers for the ride, and were giving the chance to fly. Yes, I said fly the helicopter, under the watchful eye of the instructor of course. But what an awesome experience and you can see it on some of their faces.

Thank you Boston Helicopters for another amazing day and we look forward to coming back again next year!

Congratulations to our former LPO, Army PFC Jaeden Chipperini who recently graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, SC. He will now be off to his Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Operator at Fort Huachuca,AZ.

Great drill today even though we couldn’t say the same about the weather. Started the morning with some great PT led by LPO to get the blood flowing. After changing into NWUs, the CO gave a class on Fi****ms Safety to prepare for an upcoming range day we have planned next month to qualify for the Marksmanship Ribbon. After that, CO rolled right into a Drug Awareness class for the newer cadets to start adding time towards their Drug Reduction Ribbons. Lastly before dismissal, we officially promoted Cadet Andrus to Able Cadet and Cadet Pregent to Apprentice Cadet. We also welcomed a brand new Cadet to the Division, Recruit Cadet Clarimundo.

First drill of the 2026-27 Season! Started the morning with an initial PRT to gage how much work everyone put in during the summer then changed into NWUs to get ready for our Open House. Not as many as we hoped for, but we did manage to get two hopefuls to come inside to discuss the program and answer any questions they may have.

After lunch, Cadets had the opportunity to update their ribbon racks,l and swap out any uniforms that they have grown out of. The CO issued uniforms to a brand new Cadet who just joined today and earned the PT Ribbon right out of the gate!

LPO then went over some orientation classes on our Google Classroom page, Quarterdeck, Homeport and Polaris. Cadets were also giving the opportunity to talk to the division about the trainings they attended over the summer break.

Before dismissal, we officially promoted 3 cadets who made rank during the summer and presented the America’s 250th and International Naval Review ribbons to those who attended the events this summer.

Next week we will be at the Gloucester Fishbox Derby were we will be defending our Crown and hopefully taking home #4!
