The Open Door Our mission is to alleviate the impact of hunger in our community. Gloucester Food Pantry is open Monday-Wednesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. to 4 p.m.

and Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. Ipswich Food Pantry is open Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m.

Our weekly menu is here! Reminder: we are closed today in observance of Memorial Day.

Extra meals were distributed on Friday for the long weekend and we will be back tomorrow!

In-person dining will be available at our Gloucester Food Pantry Tues-Friday from 4:30-5:30 p.m. this week.

To-Go Meals will be available for pick-up this week:
🗓️Tues-Friday: 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Gloucester Food Pantry.
🗓️Wed-Thurs: 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Ipswich Community Food Pantry.

Join us at the Library with Heart event next Wednesday, May 27 at Sawyer Free Library (2pm-3pm). ❤️

The Open Door Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, Margaret Stevens, will be there giving out heart-healthy snacks and hand-outs with tips for heart-healthy eating!

Last week we wrapped up our final Dish class of the schoolyear! We had another great session with enthusiastic O'Maley middle schoolers. 🍳🤩

We were once again joined by Backyard Growers to provide students with knowledge and experience of cooking, nutrition, gardening and food systems. 🤓🧠

Each week we highlighted something from the garden, had a chance to plant or harvest it, then used it in recipes back in the classroom.

This Spring we featured & made the following:
🫛Peas (Snap peas): Fried Rice, "Peanut" Noodles (with a nut-free sun butter sauce)
🥬Lettuce: Salads in a Jar, Energy Bites (no lettuce, but still yummy!)
🌿Herbs: Falafel with tahini sauce, Kale & Basil Pesto
🔻Beets: Pink Hummus, Chocolate Beet Muffins
🏵️Edible Flowers: Smoothie Bowls, Vietnamese Summer Rolls
🟢Scallions: Scallion Pancakes, Chicken & Scallion Dumplings
🫑Peppers: Chicken Broccoli Alfredo with Roasted Red Peppers, Salsa & Quesadillas

🧡 Holiday Hours Update 🧡

The Open Door and Second Glance will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.

Please note:

-Second Glance is always closed to shoppers on Mondays, and we will not be accepting donations that day.
-Donation appointments will resume as usual on Tuesday.

At The Open Door:

-On Friday, we’ll offer three to-go meals at our Gloucester Food Pantry (8:30 AM–6 PM) to help cover the long weekend.
-Custom grocery appointments remain available (except Monday).
-If you need food sooner, you’re always welcome to visit our Gloucester or Ipswich Food Pantries during business hours for a 3–5 day supply of groceries, no appointment needed.
