The IRC's New Roots program is hosting a FREE community produce distribution at CamelBackyard on Saturday October 17th from 9 am - 11 am at 1616 W. Camelback Rd.

We'll have produce grown by New Roots famers and other small farms in Phoenix. While supplies last, first come first serve.

A message from IRC's New Roots Coordinator, Isaac:
"This year is a milestone, for both my professional and running journey. I have been working with IRC in Arizona for the past 10 yrs, and I will be running my 10th marathon!

IRC works around the globe to provide shelter, aid, and safety for refugees and those fleeing violence. Locally I get to work in the New Roots program, a food access and agriculture program. One of my greatest joys is seeing participants share cultural farming practices, cuisines and resources with one another. I’ve been able to see the impact IRC has made in peoples’ lives and need your help to continue this mission.

The IRC will be hosting a client-facing information session in partnership with Zito Elementary School and invite our community to join us. This session will provide an opportunity for clients to learn more about the upcoming AHCCCS cuts, ask questions, and better understand how they can access health care and other resources moving forward.

They will cover the following.

• An overview of SNAP & Medicaid Cuts /eligibility

• How to navigate this change: AHCCCS notices, health care options etc

• Health, Legal, Housing, Food and other resources for families

We had a busy food distribution event this morning!

Thank you to our wonderful community partner Sahara Programs for providing hygiene supplies, and to St.Mary's Food Bank Alliance for providing food to support families who have lost access to food stamps.

We couldn’t have done this without the passionate volunteers from Trinity Mennonite Church… thank you! 🙏

Huge shout out to our generous community partner The Welcome to America Project for holding a clothing closet during our free resource fair today!

The IRC’s Education team brought together several community partners to provide free vaccinations, food, clothing, school supplies, household and hygiene items and more to hundreds of people.

We couldn’t bring events like this together without wonderful community partners and our volunteers. Thank you for spending your Saturday with us!
