Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day on August 28 sets aside a day to remember the pet companions we've lost.

Post your favorite pics of your angels.

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water and warm spring weather. The old and frail animals are young again. Those who are maimed are made whole again. They play all day with each other. There is only one thing missing. They are not with their special person who loved them on Earth. So each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up! The nose twitches! The ears are up! The eyes are staring! And this one suddenly runs from the group! You have been seen, and when you and your special friend meet, you take him or her in your arms and embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again, and you look once more into the eyes of your trusting pet. Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

NATIONAL DOG DAY
National Dog Day on August 26 encourages dog ownership of all breeds.
Whether mixed or purebred, embrace the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe, and abuse-free life. They all give us companionship. Additionally, they keep us safe, and they aid those in need. Dogs play. Well, they play many roles in our lives, too! They keep us healthy, both physically and mentally.

While many days aim to find loving homes for dogs, this day expands that consideration to look beyond the breed. Look into the heart of the animal. The purpose of the National Dog Day Foundation is to rescue 10,000 dogs each year.

NATIONAL NONPROFIT DAY
On August 17, National Nonprofit Day recognizes the goals and positive impacts nonprofits have on communities and the world.

Arizona Golden Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c) (3), charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers and mostly-Golden Retriever mixes that may have been abused, abandoned, neglected, unwanted, or surrendered by their owners due to previously unforeseen circumstances and to find new, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated. They are also microchipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. The rescued dogs are then placed into Foster homes or "Foster With Intent To Adopt" homes until they are permanently placed with their new "Forever Homes." Arizona Golden Rescue is a "Non-Shelter Rescue" with all dogs staying in Foster homes till adopted.

"Leonardo is a very nice boy and was amazingly calm and good-natured for a doodle! NO issues with any of the other 9 dogs present. He even laid in the middle of the floor with other dogs stepping over him and no reactions whatsoever. I walked him around inside the store some, and while he pulled a bit with the Sidekick leash, I did my usual Stop/Sit with him, which he caught onto very quickly and behaved wonderfully! I personally think Leonardo will make a wonderful pet for someone, but he is big and those long legs need a big yard for him to run and play."
