ARIZONA GOLDEN RESCUE is a "Non-Shelter Rescue" with all dogs staying in Foster or Foster With Intent to Adopt homes until adopted. Our goal is to place incoming rescues into permanent homes as quickly as possible. All of our incoming dogs receive necessary
evaluation and medical care .
If there is not an approved home on our waiting list to adopt that matches the intake, they are posted as available and our placement team will turn to our approved fosters list. We attempt to place a foster within the guidelines they have designated.
Arizona Golden Rescue will pay for follow-up veterinary care and medications for our dogs in foster care. Our fosters provide food, transportation to follow-up Veterinary appointments at our approved vets and enrichment that is so important in their transition to their new lives. Foster families have a right of first refusal to adopt their foster dog. Many foster homes have become their foster's Forever Home. Otherwise known as, "Foster Failure", it is a badge we wear proudly.
AGR does not adopt to families that are out-of-state residents. Applicants who want to adopt from AGR must have their primary "domicile" residence as the state of Arizona, although they may live elsewhere for some portion of the year. But their driver’s license must be issued in Arizona. If you are interested in adopting from Arizona Golden Rescue, I recommend that you visit our website and complete the Online Adoption Application ASAP to begin the process.
Waiting times vary depending upon how specific your preferences are. The more you restrict the factors involved in choosing a dog – age, s*x, coat color, etc. – the longer the wait may be before we find the perfect dog for you.
Our adoption fees are based upon the Golden’s age.
Puppies up to 2 years of age are $500
Dogs 2 - 5 years of age are $475
Dogs between 5 and 9 are $450
Dogs over 9 years of age are $400.
If a pair is adopted, second dog is half price (younger dog is full price)
both dogs younger than 2, $750
one dog younger than 2 and one between 2 and 5, $737
one dog younger than 2 and one between 5 and 9, $725
one dog younger than 2 and one over 9, $700
both dogs between 2 and 5, $712
one dog between 2 and 5 and one between 5 and 9, $700
both dogs between 5 and 9, $675
one dog between 5 and 9 and one over 9, $650
both dogs over 9, $600
Please note: it is the policy of AGR not to place a dog under 3 years of age with a family that has children less than 3 years of age.
Arizona Golden Rescue is organized as an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501 (c) (3) corporation. We are a charitable organization whose mission is to rescue displaced Golden Retrievers, Golden Doodles and mostly-Golden mixes that have been abused, abandoned, neglected or unwanted and find new, permanent homes for them. Rescued dogs are given a complete veterinary exam and their vaccines are updated; they are also micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, and tested for valley fever and heartworm. AGR provides emotional and medical rehabilitation and will pay for medications and for necessary surgeries. Through education at public appearances, AGR seeks to educate the public about the Golden Retriever breed and about responsible dog ownership, in order to help reduce the unwanted dog population.
