Our organization sponsors and participates in events all year to promote our Czech, Slovak, and Moravian heritage.

Join us for our upcoming events and the continuation of our traditions! Founded in 1939, the United Moravian Societies (UMS) has a long history of promoting Moravian, Czech, and Slovak folklore by demonstrating the ethnic customs of folk dancing, singing, storytelling and crafting. We are also involved in benevolent work and the observance of memorials.

Enjoy the highlights from Omladina’s performance at the inaugural Oktoberfolk Fest at Ligzda Latvian Center! 📸

Yesterday, Omladina had the privilege of performing at the inaugural Oktoberfolk Fest at the Chicago Latvian Community Center. There is something truly special about Chicago’s cultural heritage communities coming together, sharing our heritage, cultures, and traditions alongside the beautiful performances of the Latvian, Bulgarian, and Irish dance groups.

Our dancers had an unforgettable time on stage, and we cannot thank our hosts enough. A huge thank you to the entire LIGZDA community, so many wonderful people worked together to put on this event, greeting our dancers with open arms, boundless kindness, and true hospitality all afternoon.

Preserving folklore across generations is at the core of what we do at United Moravian Societies, and events like this remind us of the strength and joy found in shared heritage.

• Event: Oktoberfolk Fest
• When: Today, Saturday, October 3rd from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
• Where: Ligzda Latvian Center – 6551 W Montrose Ave, Chicago, IL
• Entertainment: Moravian, Latvian, Bulgarian, and Irish dance groups, plus The Neverly Brothers
• Food & Drinks: Sausage & kraut, refreshments, market vendors, and more
• Tickets: $30 Adults | $10 Youth (ages 6–17)
