Remembering Lidice

June 10 marks the anniversary of the destruction of Lidice, a small Czech village that was wiped out by German forces during World War II.
On Sunday, UMS was honored to participate in the memorial at Crest Hill. Through the voices of our UMS Singers and the presence of Miss Czech-Slovak Illinois, along with many members of our Czech community, we came together to pay tribute to the innocent lives lost and honor their memory. Moments like these remind us of the strength of our heritage and the importance of standing together as a community.

Thank you to our distinguished guests and partners who joined us in remembrance: Deputy Consul General Karel Pažourek, Mayor Raymond Solimon, Alderman Tina Oberlin, T. G. Masaryk Czech School, American Sokol Guard "Stráž", Sokol Spirit, People in Need, and NCSML.

Lest we forget. 🇨🇿🕊️
