Congratulations to the Jedlicka Performing Arts Center at Morton College, recipient of the 2026 Award of Excellence in College & University Theatre!

For over 100 years, Morton College has produced theatre for both its campus and the greater community, staging a 4-show season of plays and musicals in its grand 300-seat proscenium theatre. Under the leadership of retired Associate Dean Michael Kott, who has acted, produced, and directed over 120 shows since 1997, the Jedlicka has become known for its commitment to premiere performances, including recent North American premieres of Take At Midnight and The Go-Between.

The nerves, the energy, the first time an audience hears those lines...Opening night is magic. What’s your favorite part of it? Share with us below!

There’s something uniquely powerful about community theatre. It’s more than a stage...it’s a gathering place, where strangers become castmates, castmates become friends, and friends become family. That spirit is exactly what Come Together, Illinois’ biannual community theatre festival, celebrates.

Community theatres across our state welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels...and that spirit of inclusion is what makes this art form so special. Come Together honors that collaborative energy through our biannual play competition, with a chance to represent Illinois and our region at AACTFest 2027!

Join us for a weekend of competition, networking, and celebration. Register by Oct. 12th!
