The Shade Tree Committee was established as a community effort to advise the Borough Council and the Director of Public Works as to future plans relating to the planting, pruning, removal and care of those trees and shrubs within the Borough that are located upon public rights-of-way, public parks, school grounds and other public places and to assist in the solution of problems relating to the sam

e. The Committee also works to manage the Glen Rock Tree Trust, which has a mission to plant and maintain trees in the Borough as well as raise public awareness of the importance of urban forestry conservation and stewardship. The mission of the Committee is to create and maintain optimum tree cover and species diversity while keeping up a pruning and removal program that will keep Glen Rock's streets and parks safe.

Heads up birders, a lot of migration is expected during Labor Day Weekend. The fall migration season is about to kick into high gear. We have a unique set up this weekend as a strong area of low pressure in the Atlantic will be tilted just right to provide a wind from the north to northeast across the Northeast and eastern Great Lakes region. The low level wind flow will continue to guide birds toward the Gulf. Saturday night will likely be the biggest migration night of the weekend with more than 300 million birds in flight. We are about 2-3 weeks away from the fall migration peak. You can help by turning off those outdoor lights on big migration nights.
