Ridgewood AM Rotary Club is one of two Rotary Clubs in The Village of Ridgewood. Our club includes forty-five active members. Our members are business owners, professionals and leaders. We are your friends and neighbors working together to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards, and help build goodwill and peace in our community and our world. Rotary club members are busine

Rotary's 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and regions encourage high ethical standards and carry out humanitarian projects to address such issues as poverty, health, hunger, education, and the environment. Through more than US $95 million in Rotary Foundation grants each year, Rotary clubs support community projects at home and abroad. Known as the world's largest private provider of international education scholarships, The Rotary Foundation funds more than 1,000 students annually to study overseas and act as cultural ambassadors. Rotary also partners with eight prestigious universities around the globe to educate mid-career professionals in peace and conflict resolution. PolioPlus is Rotary's flagship program. Rotary club members had contributed US $600 million and countless volunteer hours to help immunize over two billion children against polio as of Rotary's centennial in 2005. Spearheading partners in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative include the World Health Organization, Rotary International, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and UNICEF. Founded in Chicago in 1905 as the world's first and one of the largest non-profit volunteer service organizations, Rotary quickly expanded around the globe. Clubs meet weekly for fellowship to discuss local and global topics. Clubs are non-religious, non-governmental, and open to every race, culture.

On May 9th, Rotary District 7490 honored local heroes with the annual “Champions of Peace” award. This distinction recognizes non-Rotary members who exemplify community service, compassion for others, and civic unity. Each club in the district nominated an individual who embodies these values. The Rotary Club of Ridgewood A.M. proudly nominated Judy Saydah for this award in recognition of her dedication to the Social Services Association food pantry in Ridgewood. Congratulations to Judy and thank you for your outstanding contributions!

The Rotary Club of Ridgewood AM has a long and cherished relationship with assisting the people of Haiti. Natural disasters, political instability, lack of healthcare and educational opportunities are among the many challenges that face this Caribbean nation.

Today at our weekly meeting we welcomed Lisa Hyatt, executive director and Enel Andre, social/community development manager of Overture International.

Overture International was born in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, which devastated the southern Haiti in October 2016. Overture was among Haiti’s first response to the crisis by sheltering displaced families, administering outreach services to rural communities, surveying damage, engineering and managing the rebuilding and new construction projects. Ultimately providing relief to thousands of families and children. Their work continues today and they need support, more now than ever. This morning, instead of our regular meeting, we met at the sprawling Christian Health campus in Wyckoff. There, we connected with Tori Weil, Director of Sales-Community Relations. Tori loaded us onto a van and showed us around their amazing facility.

Christian Health, a non-profit healthcare organization, offers quality senior living, short-term rehabilitation, and mental health support. They have been around for more than a century and have continually expanded to meet the changing needs of the community. Their services include independent and assisted living facilities, skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, memory support, and mental health services.

Christian Health has also generously supported the Rotary Club of Ridgewood A.M. for several years, for which we are very grateful.
