To our Members and Friends.

The safety of our members and visitors is our utmost priority at the New Jersey Astronomical Association.

Regrettably, we must announce the cancellation of our regularly scheduled Saturday evening star gazing event,
which was planned for tomorrow night, due to the likelihood of severe thunderstorms in the forecast from 6:00pm to 1:00AM Sunday.

We understand that these events are eagerly anticipated, and we share your disappointment in having to make this decision. However, safety concerns dictate that we exercise caution when weather conditions pose potential risks.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to welcoming you back under “clear" skies next Saturday evening.

Stay safe and keep looking up!
Jim Roselli
President, NJAA

Simply amazing.

Voyager 1 that’s 14.6 Billion miles away gets a software update that fixed a problem with garbled data being sent home.

In the world of Gigabit Internet, 5g wireless and all the marvels of today’s tech, Voyager 1 ‘s transmission speed is 2.8 kilo bits per second.

Even more remarkable is the fact that NASA’s Deep Sky Network can hear the spacecraft. Voyager 1 transmitter power is only 23 watts! But with the distance of 14.6 Billion miles, the real strength of the signal reaching Earth is less than 1 attowatt ( 1E-18 ).

Thank you NASA !
