Dear friends,

We have ✨great✨ news about Bill Crain’s court case!😊

Bill was charged with 2 violations as a result of his protest at the Whittingham bear check station in October of 2024: obstructing the administration of law or other governmental function, and using a state wildlife management area contrary to regulation. The first charge was the more serious charge, carrying possible jail time, but was dismissed earlier this year. The second charge was the subject of Bill’s court date on Wednesday, October 14, when he accepted a plea deal and a fine of $100, which was the minimum fine under the statute!

Bill was represented by attorney Bill LaVigne. Thanks to Senator Robert Torricelli for helping out with Bill’s legal fees!

And thank you to Bill for always speaking up for our beloved bears!❤️🐾
