Join us for an official fish survey in the Russell Kirt Prairie (RKP). We will be joined by Professors Jim Ludden and David Taylor to collect information about what fish species are present in our Natural Areas. I've seen bird eat them, fish jumping, and people catching them, but we have never done a research day to official track what is found. We had to share this one!

Congratulations to Professor David Ellis on being named the Business and Technology "Overall" Division Faculty of the Year!

If you're wondering about the overalls, anyone who knows David knows they're his signature look. So naturally, his colleagues showed up dressed for the occasion in a fitting tribute to celebrate his well-deserved recognition.

Thank you, David, for your dedication to your Welding students, and for proving that great teaching, and great style, never go out of fashion.

COD Fashion please confirm whether "Campus Couture: Ellis Edition" is trending this season. 😀

The CODSU bargaining team met with College administration on Wednesday, May 20.

As of today, the College has failed to provide counterproposals on 13 separate items. Our bargaining team has spent significant time researching issues, developing language, and evaluating how proposals would apply in both real and hypothetical situations before bringing them to the table.

In response, the College has rejected multiple proposals outright without offering alternative language or meaningful counterproposals, leaving little direction for productive movement.

Our bargaining team remains committed to pushing these issues forward.

Our next bargaining session is June 4. We encourage members to show solidarity by wearing CODSU shirts or buttons on bargaining days. Visibility matters, and our collective strength at the table depends on member engagement and support.

After 30 years at College of DuPage, Professor Carolyn England is officially logging off this semester from teaching Computer Information Systems. Carolyn has successfully navigated decades of technology changes, software updates, and students saying, “I swear I uploaded it to Blackboard.”

Reflecting on her time at COD, Carolyn shared:

“Like many faculty, I began as an adjunct faculty in 1996. I joined CIS as full-time faculty a year later and have been part of the CIS department since then. I will miss my fellow colleagues the most. It is unusual to have such a diverse group of individuals all serving the common purpose of our students and community. Serving on committees, outreach activities, and In-service sessions were great opportunities to make an impact and work with my fellow COD family beyond the instructional realm.”

Carolyn’s impact on students, colleagues, and the COD community has been immeasurable, and we appreciate the many years of dedication, laughter, and technology expertise you brought to the students and community at COD.

Wishing Carolyn a retirement filled with relaxation, travel, no committee meetings, and never having to get another email asking for an assignment extension at 11:55pm!

Congratulations Carolyn on your retirement!

It's Class of 2026 - New Faculty Institute. A huge congratulations to our newest full-time faculty for completing the year-long New Faculty Institute at College of DuPage!

Through Blackboard learning modules, face-to-face collaboration, guest speakers, and meaningful conversations, these faculty members spent the academic year strengthening their teaching practices, building connections, and learning what it means to be part of the COD community.

We are excited to see the impact these faculty members will continue to make both inside and outside the classroom!

As College of DuPage continues developing a campus-wide AI policy, faculty voices remain an important part of the conversation.

In a recent article by COD Courier Student Newspaper, CODFA Vice President Scott Campbell and CODFA President David Goldberg shared perspectives on the importance of faculty leadership, academic integrity, and clear guidance as AI continues to shape higher education and the workforce.

As Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools become more common in education and the workforce, College of DuPage (COD) is drafting a policy that will shape how students and faculty use AI. The proposed policy, presented to the Board of Trustees on March 19, will establish guidelines for the eth...
