Today is Dolly Parton Day! The state of California proclaimed 9-2-5, September 25, as a way to pay tribute to the global icon and champion of early literacy. The specific day, 9/25, pays homage to the film “9 to 5” which starred Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.

The Dollywood Foundation is marking 9/25 as “Give Like Dolly Day,” encouraging people to support children and communities like Dolly did. Because of your support, 22,700 children in Santa Clara County receive a free book every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Your generosity helps bring the joy of reading into homes, spark imaginations and create special moments between children and the people who love them.

Gilroy Foundation is a proud partner of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Santa Clara County Library District, and Susie Seledon Literacy Fund, and .
