Our Gilroy Fire family is asking for your prayers and support for Fire Captain Mark Ordaz as he continues his recovery from a serious spinal injury and surgery.

Mark has spent his career serving our community, and now he’s facing a long road to healing. If you’re able, please keep Mark and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Today, members of Gilroy Firefighters Local 2805 joined firefighters from across California in support of AB 1383 and protecting the future of the fire service.

As firefighters, we understand that strong communities depend on experienced, dedicated public servants. Ensuring retirement security helps us recruit and retain the next generation of firefighters while honoring those who have devoted their careers to serving others.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to engage with legislators, attend hearings, make phone calls, and advocate for the future of our profession. Meaningful change happens when firefighters stand together and make their voices heard.

Local 2805 remains committed to supporting policies that strengthen the fire service, protect public safety, and preserve the retirement security that firefighters have earned through a lifetime of service.

San Jose residents were promised stronger public safety. Instead, they are being asked to accept fewer firefighters, fewer emergency resources and longer response times during emergencies.
