Hello Friends, Tonight, the City of Gig Harbor will hold an open house to present their proposed changes for critical areas.
March 10, 2026
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location: Council Chambers
3510 Grandview St
Gig Harbor, WA 98335

Please attend or send in a letter for your support for larger stream buffers and better protections for streams and wetlands in Gig Harbor.

The city's current proposal does increase buffers from their current size to a min of 100 ft (from 25 ft and 50 ft currently). Thank the city for increasing stream buffers and ask for larger buffers on wetlands to better align with Pierce County wetland buffers. At present, the city's wetland buffers fall short of what Pierce County adopted.

There will also be a Planning Commission meeting will be on April 2nd at 5:30 PM - which can be attended virtually. This meeting may also be accessed through Zoom at https://zoom.us/j/95353411299 or by calling (253) 215- 8782 and entering Meeting ID 953 5341 1299.

The code update will make some land less developable in Gig Harbor, but future revisions to the city’s housing code will make other properties more developable.

02/02/2026

The dock will provide dedicated moorage space for up to 17 commercial fishing vessels.

The decision puts up a roadblock on plans for six new buildings on the property in rural Gig Harbor. Kensington Gardens appealed it.
