When we were contacted by the Hugh OBrien Youth leadership team and Lasagna Love to distribute 300+ lasagnas in a few hours, our board got to work! Leslie and Emmanuel greeted cars with a smile and a lot of lasagna! Thanks to all behind-the-scenes volunteers as well, the colleges for hosting, community members who delivered to people without transportation, and cake downtown for freezing the extras for pickup by people this week! True community effort!

Update: Almost all of the 300+ lasagnas got distributed. If you really wanted one but just missed us, you can stop by Cake (across from Ciccino's) until 8:30pm and pick one up--free!!!!

The NY Department of Public Service is receiving comments until 6/15 about their intention to further explore the impacts of large load users (data centers, Bitcoin, etc) on the power grid, customer rates, and power outages. Did you know that RG&E said areas just west of us might need rolling outages this summer? Did you know things might get worse this winter? Did you know that a new housing project couldn't proceed because the cost to tie into the electric grid was sky high, yet the state is trying to find ways to make it easier and cheaper for industries powering AI to siphon off our energy? Take a look at the comments submitted and consider leaving a comment of your own!

“I enjoy cooking for the community whenever I can, and it aligns perfectly with the passion for cooking that my daughter and I share… We [both] participate in our local farmers markets. I am known for my gourmet cornbread with unlimited flavors, and my daughter is known for her southern sweets.”

“Hi everyone, I’m Fabian.

I got involved with volunteering because I enjoy being able to help in a practical way. Food has always been one of the ways I can connect with people, and volunteering has given me the ability to use that interest to support my local community.

The thing I enjoy most is the people. I’ve met wonderful volunteers, learned from different experiences, and had the chance to be part of something bigger. Along the way I’ve gained amazing friends, conversations, and a sense of belonging that come with it all.

Outside of volunteering, I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, and working on a food and beverage projects that I’m developing locally.”
