The regular Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) benefit for the 2026–2027 season is expected to open on November 2, 2026 in New York, while the Heating Equipment Repair and Replacement benefit is scheduled to open earlier on October 1, 2026.

⚫️ Regular HEAP Opening: Expected on November 2, 2026, to help eligible households cover winter heating costs.
⚫️ Heating Equipment Benefit: Opens October 1, 2026, for furnace or heating equipment repair and replacement.

How to Apply: Submit applications online through myBenefits.ny.gov or contact your local Department of Social Services

Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. and the NY-510 Ithaca/Tompkins Continuum of Care will offer a no-cost legal walk-in clinic for low-income individuals on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 from 1pm-5pm in the Borg Warner Room of the Tompkins County Public Library.

Come meet with a panel of LawNY attorneys and staff to receive free, brief legal advice and connect with counsel about personal housing law questions.
