Next month, St. Christopher's Inn will have the honor of recognizing Tom Farley at our 2026 Board of Directors Reception in New York City. 🧡

Tom is a nationally recognized recovery advocate, motivational speaker, author of The Chris Farley Show, and Community Outreach Director at https://hubs.li/Q04B9jNg0. Through his personal journey and years of advocacy, he's become a powerful voice for substance use recovery, mental health awareness, and the importance of human connection.

His honesty, humor, and lived experience resonate with so much of what we believe at SCI: that recovery is strengthened through meaningful connections, community and ongoing support.

We're grateful for the awareness Tom continues to bring to SUD and recovery and look forward to celebrating him alongside Board Chairman Mark W. Goldberg and Elizabeth Ailes, Ambassador of Hope and Healing, as well as our entire Board of Directors, whose leadership and commitment help make our mission possible. 💪

St. Christopher’s Inn remains deeply grateful to the Peter and Henry Block Foundation whose generous support since 2024 has enriched the lives of our residents in countless ways. Through the Foundation’s partnership, the Inn has been able to purchase a dedicated vehicle for transportation to medical and other essential appointments, establish a bakery program, expand creative arts therapy initiatives, and provide musical instruments and equipment for resident performances at events such as the Annual Winter Extravaganza and monthly Coffee House gatherings.

The Foundation’s support has also made possible meaningful experiences, including visits to Stepping Stones, the historic home of the co-founders of Alcoholics Anonymous, therapeutic horsemanship programs, and many other opportunities that foster growth, confidence, community, and recovery.

The Foundation itself is a lasting tribute to the remarkable bond between brothers Peter and Henry Block. Peter gave his life in service as a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Henry went on to serve the people of New York City as a firefighter for nearly four decades, courageously dedicating his life to others while faithfully setting aside a portion of each paycheck. His dream was to create a memorial to his beloved older brother and personal hero, Peter. The Peter and Henry Block Foundation stands today as the enduring fruit of that brotherly love and devotion.

We are profoundly grateful that the Foundation has chosen to invest in the mission of St. Christopher’s Inn. In supporting our work, it helps nurture the same spirit of fraternity, compassion, and selfless love that inspired its founding and continues to transform lives within our community.

Thank you to our Facilities Team and Brothers Christopher for restoring the lighting along our Memorial Brick Wall. The new LED lights are more energy-efficient, last longer and require less maintenance than traditional lighting, helping us care for both our beautiful grounds and the environment. This thoughtful improvement keeps this special space illuminated for all who visit.

Once a month, St. Christopher’s Inn turns into a coffee shop. ☕

The coffee is brewing, the room fills up and the microphone is open. Men share original poetry and short stories, pick up a guitar, sing, rap, beatbox or simply sit back and enjoy.

What makes Coffee Hour special is who comes together. Men working on their recovery journey, counselors, therapists and staff together in the same room, cheering one another on. It’s creative. It’s fun. And for an hour, it really does feel like our own little café at Graymoor.

There’s more to discover at “That Nothing Be Lost” Antique & Thrift Store than what’s on the shelves. Located in a historic stone building at Graymoor, you can roam for hours across four floors filled with furniture, clothing, artwork, collectibles and plenty of unexpected finds.

This special place also provides a vocational experience for men at St. Christopher’s Inn, with opportunities to connect with customers and their build confidence. And perhaps the name says something important, too: there can be value in restoring, renewing and seeing possibility in what others might overlook.

At St. Christopher’s Inn, men are invited to explore faith and spirituality in ways that are meaningful to them, whether through Mass, spiritual direction, music, prayer or quiet reflection. As a ministry of the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement, we believe faith can be a source of hope, meaning and strength in recovery. Men of all faith traditions, and those with no faith tradition, are always welcome.

There’s something pretty special about SCI's alumni association....They stay connected long after leaving the Inn, with weekly Zoom meetings, visits to Graymoor and a network that stretches well beyond New York and across the country. One of their favorite traditions is gathering around the firepit at Graymoor for a campfire meeting. This time, they invited all of the men currently at the Inn to join them. It’s a great example of what SCIAA is all about: staying connected, showing up for one another and making sure the men coming behind them know there’s a community waiting for them.
