National Dog Day may have been yesterday, but around Keaton’s Kids, every day is a pretty good day to celebrate the pups. 🐾💚

A special shoutout to **Buster and Lulu, our official unofficial mascots**, who are always ready to join the kids for a little running, exploring, playing and fresh-air fun.

Dogs can bring so much to childhood: companionship, responsibility, movement, comfort and plenty of reasons to get outside. Pair that with time in nature, and kids get opportunities to explore, use their imaginations, build confidence and simply enjoy being kids.

Buster and Lulu take their mascot duties very seriously... especially the playing-with-kids portion of the job description. 😂🐶

Here’s to muddy paws, happy kids, fresh air and more adventures together. 🌿

“It seems like the more I give, the more I get. And that is the way it’s supposed to go in life.”—Dolly Parton

Dolly Parton believed deeply in giving children the tools to dream—and that the greatest rewards in life come from what we give to others.

We felt that same spirit at our most recent Great Skate Giveaway in Newburgh, held in loving memory of Keaton and Zane of Keep It Moving Zane. Together, we placed 100 free skateboards into the hands of local children—giving them more than something to ride, but a new opportunity for adventure, confidence, friendship, and joy.

As the world mourns Dolly following the news that she died after a brief battle with cancer, we remember a superstar whose greatest impact extended far beyond the stage. Through initiatives like her Imagination Library and a lifetime of philanthropy, she continually turned her success into opportunities for children and families.

Her example reminds us why we do what we do: every child deserves the chance to discover something that makes them feel excited, capable, and free.

Rest in peace, Dolly Parton.

May the generosity you shared continue inspiring all of us to give a little more.

From the hiking trail to the swimming pool, with puppy cuddles, cannonballs, and sweet treats along the way! 🥾🌳🐶🏊‍♂️🍕

In honor of Hooray for Kids Day, we’re celebrating more joyful moments from our Nature Connection Summer Camp with the students of New Era Creative Space. After exploring the great outdoors on a hike, the kiddos cooled off in the pool, practiced their swimming skills, and made a splash with a few enthusiastic cannonballs!

Our puppies absolutely loved all the attention from the kids, and the campers also enjoyed some well-earned pizza and ice cream after their adventures. 🍦

This is what investing in young people can look like: connecting them with nature and animals, encouraging healthy movement, teaching valuable life skills, and giving them opportunities to learn, laugh, build friendships, and simply enjoy being kids.

Hooray for these adventurous campers, and hooray for kids everywhere! 🎉

🍦🌿 Happy National Ice Cream Day from Keaton’s Kids!

After a full day of hiking, swimming lessons, free swim, and making new friends at the pool, our Nature Connections summer campers cooled down with some well-earned ice cream sandwiches!

Summer days like these are about so much more than fun. They give children from underserved communities the chance to explore the outdoors, build confidence, learn new skills, and create joyful memories in nature.

Thank you to everyone who supports Keaton’s Kids and makes it possible for us to partner with wonderful programs like NECS to help more young people step outside, dive in, and discover new adventures. 💚🏊‍♀️🥾

A new partnership has officially set sail! ⛵🌊

Keaton’s Kids is proud to partner with The Felix Organization, whose mission is to provide inspiring opportunities and new experiences that enrich the lives of children growing up in the foster care system.

In June, Felix youth climbed aboard the historic Hudson River sloop Clearwater for an educational sailing adventure filled with river history, environmental learning and an entirely new view of the Hudson.

This is exactly what outdoor access can do: turn a river into a classroom, an outing into a confidence-building adventure and a new experience into a memory that lasts.
We’re excited to continue working together to help more young people explore, connect with nature and discover new possibilities.

For anyone who thinks distributing 100 skateboards every year sounds like a logistical impossibility, Keaton’s Kids and Keep It Moving Zane are here to prove otherwise. 🛹

Last month’s Great Skate Giveaway was another incredible reminder of what can happen when a community comes together. Over the years, the only thing that has ever truly stopped us was the weather, never the fundraising, organizing, or determination behind the event.

That is because we have an extraordinary team.

This year, we were joined by Connect Skateboarding, Our Elements wildlife education, and so many other volunteers, partners, families, and community members who helped make the day possible.

Every person who donates, shares our posts, follows our journey, volunteers, or simply helps spread the word plays a part in this tradition.

Most importantly, we do this in memory of the people we love, those who remain with us in spirit and continue to inspire everything we do.

That love, combined with an incredible community, helps us transform a seemingly impossible idea into an annual possibility. 💙

At the Great Skate Giveaway at Newburgh Skate Park, Keaton’s Kids was honored to help give out 100 free skateboards alongside Keep It Moving Zane, Connect Skateboarding, Our Elements Outdoor Learning, and so many incredible community partners.

And while the day was all about the kids, one of the most beautiful parts was seeing the adults become kids again, too.

Parents, mentors, organizers, and volunteers were skating, dancing, laughing, cheering kids on, and letting themselves be silly in the best possible way. Moments like Donette Smith dancing with joy were such a powerful reminder of what this day was really about.

Keep It Moving Zane was created to honor the life and spirit of Zane Mandel Michalak, whose playful energy, love of movement, and care for others continue to inspire this work. To see that legacy carried forward through skateboards, music, laughter, and community was incredibly moving.

It also felt deeply connected to the heart of Keaton’s Kids as we continue honoring Keaton’s own fun, loving, and silly spirit. The kind of spirit that reminds us how important it is for kids to feel free, supported, joyful, and surrounded by adults who are willing to show up, play, and laugh right alongside them.

Today is Be a Kid Again Day, which reminds us that play is not something we outgrow. Sometimes play becomes healing. Sometimes it becomes connection. Sometimes it becomes 100 kids leaving a skate park with a new board, a bigger smile, and a whole community cheering them on.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible. Zane’s spirit keeps rolling forward, and Keaton’s joy continues to shine through every moment of love, laughter, and community we help create.

Proof that the 2026 Great Skate Giveaway had range: skateboards, line dancing, face paint, outdoor learning, and one young dancer who absolutely understood the assignment. 💃🛹

At our Newburgh event, we got to watch kids express themselves in so many ways: trying something new on wheels, jumping into the line dance, showing off flexibility and moves, and bringing that fearless kid confidence to the whole day.

That is what we love most: creating spaces where kids can move, groove, stretch, skate, laugh, and be fully themselves.

Huge love to everyone who helped make this day possible, including Connect skateboarding, Keep It Moving, our incredible DJ Money McFly for getting everyone moving and grooving, face painting by Transformed By Tabby 🦋, outdoor learning with Our Elements Outdoor Learning, and Farm Tournant for helping make the day even more special. 🌱🎧🎨

More movement. More confidence. More community. More kids getting to shine.

“M-lue.” Blue, but with an M. And honestly? We love the confidence. 💙🛹

That same fearless, full-send energy is exactly what we hope every kid carried with them at our 2026 Great Skate Giveaway in Newburgh: try the trick, take the board, make the guess, own the moment.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible for our kids and families. We’re so grateful to our collaborators and community partners, including Connect skateboarding, Keep It Moving, our DJ Money McFly, face painting by Transformed By Tabby 🦋, outdoor learning with Our Elements Outdoor Learning, and Farm Tournant for helping make the day even more special. 🌱🎧🎨

Here’s to more confidence, more community, and more beautifully incorrect answers said with your whole chest.
