Dear VFW Post 5076, Garland,
I’m reaching out personally to invite you and the veterans and military families you serve to join us for our Veterans Day Service at Saint Michael and All Angels on Sunday, November 8 at 4:00 p.m., with a reception immediately following. Our guest preacher will be The Rev. Dr. Razz Waff, Major General, United States Army (Retired), and during the service veterans from each branch of the Armed Forces will be invited forward for a special moment of recognition and appreciation.
This invitation is especially meaningful to me. I am a Marine Corps veteran, my husband served in the Navy, and our son currently serves in the Navy. Military service has touched every part of our family, and I know there are sacrifices that only veterans and their families truly understand.
That is why moments like this matter.
There is something deeply meaningful about walking into a church and realizing that the people gathered there have not simply remembered that Veterans Day is on the calendar. They have chosen to stop, recognize the sacrifice, and genuinely honor the men and women who served and the families who served alongside them.
I feel very fortunate to work at a church where that gratitude is sincere.
We are also preparing a special tribute in our Veterans Day service bulletin. If you have a loved one who has served or is currently serving in the United States Armed Forces, we would be honored to include their name. Names should be submitted by Sunday, October 25.
Submit a veteran or service member’s name here:
Submit a Veteran’s Name https://saintmichael.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/271/responses/new
I hope you will share the attached invitation and the tribute link with the veterans, service members, and military families in your community. And I hope you will come too.
Come share this moment—not only with Saint Michael, and not only with other veterans, but with me. I would be honored to welcome you personally.
