Congratulations to the recipients of the Texas Fire Marshals Association’s Achievement of Excellence in Fire Prevention Award!

Gainesville Fire Rescue -- Silver
Victoria County Fire Marshal -- Silver
Weatherford Fire Department - Silver
Pearland Fire Department -- Platinum
Denton County Fire Marshal's Office -- Platinum
Hutto Fire Rescue - Platinum
Farmers Branch Fire Department - Platinum

The award recognizes achievement at four levels—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—based on a comprehensive evaluation of an agency’s fire prevention programs and professional practices. Platinum, the highest distinction, is earned upon an agency’s third consecutive Gold Award, demonstrating a sustained commitment to excellence. Every level represents significant work to document the programs, standards, and services that help keep communities safe.

Agencies must submit extensive supporting documentation for committee evaluation across eight categories, including fire and life safety programs, performance measurement, professional development, public-facing technology, code adoption, and interagency cooperation.

Please join us in celebrating these agencies and the dedicated teams behind this achievement. Your commitment to fire prevention, accountability, and professional excellence deserves recognition. Congratulations on this well-earned honor!

One of the highlights of the week during the TFMA Conference is always our parking lot BBQ!

This year, we were honored to have Ram make the trip all the way from South Texas to share his incredible cooking talent with us. He had some great assistants by his side, and we hear he runs a pretty tight ship! 😂

A big thank-you to Maestro Integrations, LLC for making the evening even better by sponsoring our cigar bar!

At TFMA, we believe a great conference is about more than just providing outstanding training. It’s about creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect, exchange ideas, share experiences, and build relationships that last well beyond the conference.

Congratulations to Harold W. “Buddy” Rice, recipient of the Texas Fire Marshals Association’s Dan Mayes Life Member Award!

Since beginning his fire-service career in 1980, Buddy has dedicated more than four decades to protecting communities, mentoring fellow professionals, and advancing fire prevention and investigation. As Fire Marshal and Assistant Director of Emergency Services for the City of Deer Park, he has continued that commitment through leadership, public education, and community safety initiatives.

Buddy’s contributions to TFMA include more than 10 years of service on the Conference Committee and leadership as Second Vice President, First Vice President, and President. His belief in leaving an organization better than he found it is reflected in his lasting impact on our association and profession.

The Dan Mayes Life Member Award honors members who have maintained at least 10 years of active membership in good standing and provided at least five years of distinctive service through committees or other association activities. Recipients receive lifetime membership in recognition of their lasting contributions to TFMA.

Thank you, Buddy, for a lifetime of service and leadership—and for exemplifying the dedication this award honors!

Congratulations to Clyde Ford, recipient of the Texas Fire Marshals Association’s R. R. “Jack” Sneed Award!

This award recognizes individuals who have distinguished themselves in fire prevention by advancing professional standards, supporting TFMA's goals and upholding an exemplary professional image.

Clyde’s fire-service career began with the Austin Fire Department in March 1966. Six decades later, his dedication to protecting communities continues through his work in fire inspection and plans review with Travis County Emergency Services District 12.

Throughout his career, Clyde has served in emergency response, technical rescue, instruction, and fire prevention. He helped build fire prevention programs in Pflugerville and Florence, turning his experience into lasting improvements in building safety and community protection.

Thank you, Clyde, for 60 years of service and for exemplifying the professionalism and dedication this award honors!

Fun fact: This honor runs in the family! Clyde’s son, Chris, is also a past recipient of the R. R. “Jack” Sneed Award.

Congratulations to Cindy Giedraitis (affectionately known as Cindy G.), recipient of the Texas Fire Marshals Association’s President’s Award!

Presented at the President's discretion, this award recognizes individuals whose support goes above and beyond.

A longtime TFMA member and supporter, Cindy has helped strengthen our annual conference by coordinating educational opportunities and connecting members with valuable professional resources. Through her work with the National Fire Sprinkler Association - NFSA, she has also championed fire sprinkler protection and provided training for sprinkler contractors and fire-code officials.

Cindy’s commitment to education, fire prevention, and partnership has made a lasting difference to our association and the communities our members serve.

What an incredible week of training, learning, and celebrating fire marshals! It was a great opportunity to strengthen our knowledge, share experiences, build connections, and recognize the dedication and hard work of the men and women who serve and protect our communities.

Huge thanks to everyone who made this week such a success! We are proud to celebrate fire marshals and all they do to keep our communities safe. Here's to continued learning, growth, and service!
