The Garland Police Department’s Residential Lockbox Program helps emergency responders quickly access the homes of qualifying residents during a medical emergency, without having to force entry and potentially damage the home.
The free program is available to Garland residents age 65 and older who live alone or are regularly left alone, as well as residents under 65 with a major medical condition that could leave them incapacitated.
A spare house key is secured inside a lockbox placed at the residence, allowing first responders access when entry cannot otherwise be made.
There is no cost to participate, other than providing a spare key.
