๐ Staff Professional Development Day ๐
Today, the Boys & Girls Club of Garfield is closed for staff professional development.
At BGCG, we care deeply about the mental health and social-emotional well-being of our youth. Supporting our members begins with ensuring our staff have the tools, knowledge, and confidence to meet the ever-changing needs of our kids. ๐
Weโre grateful to Bergenโs Promise and the Bergen County Department of Health Services for leading todayโs Youth Mental Health First Aid Training.
This hands-on training equips adults who work with youthโlike our teachers, youth development professionals, and leadership team membersโwith the ability to:
โ
Recognize risk factors and warning signs of mental health challenges in adolescents
โ
Use a five-step action plan to support a young person in need
โ
Connect youth and their families to appropriate mental health resources
Just like CPR, Youth Mental Health First Aid is a life-saving skill that builds stronger, more resilient communities and helps reduce the stigma around mental health.
A big thank you to Bergenโs Promise for their partnership and for empowering our team to better serve Garfieldโs youth. ๐ช๐
