Garfield Chapter recently held their installation of officers for 2026-2027. Louise Gerardi was installed as President by PERDGC Allan Focarino and other district officers were installed by PERDGC Elyse Buonomo.

Flag Day is celebrated every year on June 14.

1. It honors the adoption of the U.S. flag on June 14, 1777 by the Continental Congress.
2. The original flag had 13 stars and 13 stripes, representing the 13 colonies.
3. President Woodrow Wilson officially proclaimed Flag Day in 1916.
4. Congress made it a national observance in 1949.
5. The U.S. flag has had 27 official versions over time.
6. The current 50-star flag has been in use since 1960.

Flag Day is not a federal holiday, but it is widely observed nationwide.

Garfield Chapter awarded scholarships last week at the May meeting. Recipients were Taylor Kovacs and Gabriella Micucci who were joined by their families. EVP Anthony Cornacchia and Scholarship Chair Joe Barone organized the evening.
