A little sunshine from our Learning Lab garden. 🌼 Looking back at this summer moment, we’re reminded how much there is to discover outside a classroom: something growing, something changing, something beautiful enough to bring inside.

And sometimes, something you’re very proud to hold.

A little sibling time at Learning Lab. 💛 When education is part of family life, children grow up seeing learning as something that belongs to them, too.

That’s at the heart of family literacy: parents pursuing their goals, children building their foundations, and opportunities to learn together along the way.

Before our first class at Whitney Elementary, we had the chance to meet the families who make up its community. Opening a new class site starts with connections: saying hello, listening, and helping people discover what’s available close to home.

We’re grateful to Whitney Elementary for welcoming Learning Lab and helping us bring adult education into the neighborhood. 💛

When your parent is a Learning Lab student and you’ve clearly made yourself at home. 💛

Education is serious work. We’re glad there’s room here for a little comfort, a little silliness, and families who feel welcome.

535 students. 26,968 hours of instruction. And more than 100 adults still waiting for the opportunity to learn. In just three years, Learning Lab has grown 45% while increasing the amount of instruction we provide by 72%.

That growth represents hundreds more neighbors learning English, preparing for a GED or citizenship, building foundational skills, and creating new opportunities for themselves and their families.

And our community is telling us there is more work to do.

As Learning Lab grows, our commitment remains the same: personalized education, meaningful relationships, and learning designed around each student. Growth matters because it means more people have access to an education that can change what is possible.

Today is the final day of Adult Education and Family Literacy Week in Idaho! 💛

This week, we’ve celebrated the adults across our state who show up ready to learn, the educators and volunteers who learn alongside them, and the communities that are stronger because of it.

At Learning Lab, we see every day how learning ripples outward. New skills help adults pursue careers, support their children in school, navigate technology, connect with their communities, and build the lives they want for themselves and their families.

We’re proud to be part of Idaho’s adult education community—and inspired by every student who chooses to keep learning.

So much of everyday life happens on a screen.

Applying for a job. Filling out a form. Checking a child's school information. Sending an email. Making an appointment. Learning something new.

That's why digital literacy is part of learning at Learning Lab.

Students have opportunities to build technology skills alongside English, reading, writing, and math—practicing with the tools they'll encounter at work, at home, and in their communities.

Because knowing how to navigate the digital world isn't an extra skill anymore. It's part of navigating life.

“You light up the room.”

“You are smart, creative, talented and awesome!”

“Never change.”

These are just a few of the things classmates wrote about one another during a recent class activity.

Learning happens here every day. So does something harder to measure: friendship, confidence, belonging and connection.

We're pretty lucky to have classrooms full of people cheering one another on. 💛

Every student who walks through our doors brings a story with them.

During a recent class activity, students reflected on the work they've done, the experiences they've had, and the dreams they still have for the future.

Our students don't begin their stories when they arrive at Learning Lab. They come with careers, families, skills, knowledge, and experiences that have shaped who they are.

Learning Lab gets to be part of what comes next. 💛

What qualities are important for success at work? What's the best job in the world? What jobs might disappear in the future?

These were the questions waiting for students in a recent Learning Lab class.

Learning English isn't just about vocabulary and grammar. It's about building the skills and confidence to share an opinion, ask a question, navigate a workplace, and join the conversations happening around us.

At Learning Lab, learning connects to life. 💛
