Language is climate infrastructure. 🏗️

When climate policy is discussed, people who speak marginalized languages do not sit at the negotiating table. The communities with the most at stake are too often the least informed, not because the knowledge doesn't exist, but because it was never made accessible to them. Climate Cardinals saw the need to make language inclusion a core component of environmental work, and sought the support of CLEAR Global to make it happen.

This partnership brought CLEAR Global's language expertise alongside Climate Cardinals' global network of young multilingual volunteers and its deep roots in grassroots climate engagement. Together, we've translated millions of words in climate content to ensure people have access to information that can enable effective climate action.

Our founder, Lori Thicke, built Translators without Borders on a powerful idea: that language should never be a barrier to access, equality, or dignity.

Like many of our Community members, her initial desire to contribute sparked something far beyond what she could have imagined: a global movement for language inclusion. Now, she is also releasing a book that reflects on how it all came together.

"I’ve written a memoir about where that journey began—growing up in a poor mining town in Northern Ontario, losing our home in a house fire, and the unexpected paths that followed. Those early experiences shaped my understanding of poverty, inclusion, and belonging, and ultimately led me to the fight for language equality."

Dreamer’s Daughter: Surviving My Childhood and Raising My Father, published by Simon & Schuster, is now available across Canada.

8 March is International Women’s Day. 💟

We asked Rohingya women residing in refugee camps about their experiences when issuing complaints or providing feedback. Despite organizations’ best efforts, there is still much to do to accommodate for the needs of women in the social impact sector.

Take a look at their experiences and what can be done to make complaint and feedback mechanisms work for women ➡️
