Crossroads-Connection is a Christian community service organization that provides a Weekend Food Program for food-insecure children in the public schools of Gainesville and Haymarket, Virginia. We provide a Weekend Food Program sustained by a faithful and growing number of community donors and volunteers with the objective of minimizing hunger as a factor in the classroom. Crossroads-Connection is

a chartered club of Heritage Hunt open to all who desire to support this mission. Crossroads-Connection works with counselors of 9 local public schools to provide weekend food for a total of 100 children attending Battlefield, HS, Buckland Mills ES, Bull Run MS, Glenkirk ES, Gravely ES, Mountain View ES, Tyler ES, Piney Branch ES, and PACE West School. It costs about $250.00 per child per school year. To serve the 100 children noted above, the Weekend Food Program requires $25,000 in charitable gifts for the current school year. Crossroads-Connection is a 501c(3) charity in partnership with Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 4090 Sudley Road, Haymarket VA 20169. Tax-deductible gifts can be made to Shepherd of the Hills Church (Memo: Crossroads-Connection). 100% of your gift goes to the purchase of food.

🎂 Every child deserves to feel celebrated on their birthday.

That’s why Crossroads Connection is so excited to now provide Birthday Boxes for the children we serve — because food support matters, but so do joy, celebration, and the simple moments that make childhood special. 💙

Through an incredible partnership with the FCCLA students at Gainesville High School, 100 birthday boxes were created for local children experiencing food insecurity. FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a national student organization focused on leadership, community service, and helping students make a positive impact in their communities — and these students truly embodied that mission.

Each birthday box was thoughtfully packed with cake mix, frosting, sprinkles, candles, balloons, birthday cards, and even cans of Sprite to help families create meaningful birthday memories at home.

What makes this project even more special is the heart behind it. FCCLA students raised funds throughout the school year by catering events, then spent their own time assembling every box by hand. Their compassion, leadership, and dedication are a powerful reminder of what young people can accomplish when they come together to serve their community.

A huge thank you to Jennifer McKee, the FCCLA students, Quinn McKee, and AJ Miller for helping bring this project to life. These birthday boxes are more than supplies — they’re moments of happiness, dignity, and hope for children who deserve to feel celebrated.

Because every child deserves a birthday worth smiling about. 🎈

💙 Kids helping kids. Community helping community.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Wegmans Gainesville, more than 9,000 food items were recently donated to support local students facing food insecurity. From fruit cups and granola bars to oatmeal, mac & cheese cups, and other kid-friendly essentials, these donations will help ensure children have access to food when school meals aren’t available.

What makes this partnership even more special is that Wegmans team members don’t just donate—they regularly volunteer their time helping us pack food bags for local students. Their commitment to serving our community goes far beyond the grocery store.

A special shoutout to the student volunteers who spent their Saturday morning unloading, sorting, and organizing the donation. Seeing young people step up to help their peers is a powerful reminder that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a lasting impact.

Together, we’re building a stronger community where no child has to face weekend hunger alone. Thank you, Wegmans, for being such an incredible partner in this mission. 💙

Every food item donated helps make a direct impact for local students facing weekend hunger. 💙❤️

In 2025 alone, Crossroads Connection provided support to approximately 460 children across 19 Prince William County schools and distributed more than 16,500 bags of food to students in need.

For many children, these weekend food bags help fill the gap when school meals are no longer available. Something as simple as a box of granola bars, instant oatmeal, mac & cheese cups, or pretzels can help ensure a child has food to get through the weekend.

Thanks to incredible community support, food drives, volunteers, and donations, we’re able to continue growing our impact — but the need continues to rise.

Welcome to the official page of Crossroads Connection 💙❤️

Did you know many local students rely on school meals as their primary source of food during the week — leaving weekends uncertain for far too many children in our community?

That’s where Crossroads Connection steps in.

As a 100% volunteer-run nonprofit, we work alongside local schools, community partners, and volunteers to help provide weekend food support for students facing food insecurity. What started as a community mission has grown through the support of people who simply wanted to make a difference for local kids.

This page is where we’ll share:
✨ Our mission in action
✨ Community impact stories
✨ Volunteer opportunities
✨ Food drives & events
✨ Ways YOU can help support local kids

Every share, donation, volunteer hour, and conversation helps make a difference for students in our community. We’re so glad you’re here and excited to grow this mission together.

💙 Like this post if you believe every child in our community deserves access to food beyond the classroom.

Spearheaded by Taylor Campbell, Battlefield High School (BHS) held a school-wide food drive competition sponsored on behalf of the Student Athlete Leadership and Student Activities Leadership classes. They held the food drive from April 13th-17th, collecting Kraft Mac and Cheese cups, Welch's Fruit Snacks, Goldfish crackers, and SkinnyPop popcorn. This food drive pitted the students vs. the staff. They collected a total of 748 food items. The students were victorious! This food will help feed some of the 460 children in 20 different PWCS schools supported by Crossroads Connection.

We had a blast unboxing food and packing 400 bags of food with the Battlefield High School JV basketball team this morning. They braved the cold to come help neighbors in need. Well done boys!

Sometimes we need just a little reminder from the kids we serve, just what an impact our volunteers and donors make on these young lives. Here is a little inspiration from the young people we serve as we start the new year.
