Strength isn’t just physical…it’s also having the courage to speak up, ask for help, and prioritize your mental well-being.

This Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the voices of professional athletes who have used their platforms to remind us that mental health matters. From the biggest stages in sports to everyday life, the message is the same: taking care of your mind is just as important as taking care of your body.

Mental health challenges don’t discriminate, and seeking support is a sign of strength, not weakness.

If these stories resonate with you, know that you’re not alone. Check in with yourself, check in with the men in your life, and keep the conversation going.

🎙️This week on The Mental Matchup, we sit down with Hannah De Groot, licensed therapist and founder of Stride Counseling, to discuss eating disorders, OCD, and mental health in athletes.

Hannah shares her own recovery journey, what inspired her to dedicate her career to this work, how she supports athletes through treatment, and why breaking the stigma around mental health and help-seeking is so important.

We also explore what recovery can look like and the hope that exists on the other side of struggle.

Last weekend, Morgan’s Message staff from far and wide gathered at the Rodgers’ home to officially welcome our new Executive Director, Suzanne Potts! 🦋 Safe to say, she fits in perfectly.

We’re coming out of the weekend with a mix of emotions: proud of how far we’ve come; hearts heavy (but also full) as we celebrated Morgan’s 29th heavenly birthday; inspired by our incredible all-volunteer student-athlete Ambassadors (yep, all 6,500+ of you!); and energized for the journey ahead.

When a community this passionate, committed, and determined comes together, anything is possible. Watch out, mental health stigma — we’re coming for ya! 💪

🎙️Athletes are often told to “be tough”—but few are given the tools to navigate pressure, anxiety, self-doubt, and comparison.

This week on The Mental Matchup, Kat sits down with Tiffany Yvonne Gratton to discuss what mental strength really looks like and how athletes can compete with confidence without losing themselves in the process.

We also dive into Tiffany’s Pause → Plan → Play to Win framework, a practical approach for performing under pressure.

🎙️This week on The Mental Matchup, Kat is joined by Trevor Ruhland — former Notre Dame football player and national champion.

Trevor shares his experience navigating an eating disorder, identity beyond sport, and the pressure athletes feel to always appear strong.

A powerful conversation about vulnerability, mental health, and finding purpose beyond performance. 🦋

For nearly six years, Morgan’s Message has built a community that refuses to stay silent. We have worked tirelessly to advance conversations from simple awareness to a new standard of advocacy. Now, we’re focused on what it takes to make that impact last: the systems, structure, and strategy to support student-athletes for generations to come.

That next chapter starts now. We are thrilled to announce Suzanne Potts, LMSW, MPH, as our new Executive Director!

With an extensive background in social work and a career dedicated to mental health advocacy, Suzanne joins us to lead our strategic vision and deepen our reach. Her leadership marks a pivotal evolution for our community, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and the unique pressures student-athletes face on and off the field. We are moving forward with more intention than ever to ensure Morgan’s legacy remains a standard for support everywhere.

Join us in giving Suzanne a massive Morgan’s Message welcome in the comments! 👇
