A crowd of roughly 50 trickled into the patio of the Lynx Bookstore Friday evening, looking both mellow and eager, to kick off the third annual Gainesville Reads Festival, a citywide, monthlong reading celebration intended to inspire public dialogue.

Order your tomato plants for the spring! Our annual tomato plant pre-sale is running now through Dec. 20. Reserve your plants now for pick-up around late February through early March 2027, just in time for planting season. We’ll get the seeds started and give you seedlings that will grow well here in Florida.

When you pre-order your tomato plants, you’re helping us plan a little better and reduce waste. Plus, you’re guaranteed to get the varieties you want.

In collaboration with our Grove Street Neighborhood partner and neighbor Superette Bistro & Bar superette , join Working Food on Sunday, Nov. 8, from 4 - 7:30 PM for a night under the stars to gather around local food!

🌙 From now until Nov. 2, get your early bird tickets for $145! Every ticket is a direct donation, helping Working Food connect local food to communities, strengthening ties between families, farmers, and fresh, local food.

We’re also offering an additional w**e pairing selection, intentionally crafted to match the dinner courses.

While we can't accommodate preferences, we will ensure that restrictions like vegetarian, vegan, GF, and allergies are accounted for!

🌱 The night begins with happy hour at our Giving Garden Farm, featuring complimentary cava and non-alcoholic beverages. We’ll give a tour of our farm, strolling among the vegetable beds and pollinator gardens.

✨ Then, we’ll head just down the street to Superette, where a multi-course dinner will take place. You’ll enjoy local, fresh food from Gainesville's farmscape, while supporting local food access for others in our community.

Thanks to our volunteers, last week we completed a shed build! We are so excited to have this shed for our tools and wheelbarrows.

🌱 We are super grateful to our volunteer, Matt, who dedicated his time and resources to building this for us and guiding volunteers in the steps to complete it!

🥕 Aside from this, volunteers came together for a SUPER productive volunteer day. We planted, weeded, cleared out pollinator beds and beds with fruit trees. A big thank you to everyone who came out. We had a lot of fun and the farm looked a LOT sharper after the event.

Thanks for a fun and fruitful first work session of season six! Volunteer Days at our Giving Garden Farm have started again. It's hard to believe that the farm is in its sixth year of growing fresh food. Each week of our 10-month growing season, folks from all walks of life come together to grow food and learn gardening skills along the way.
