Lots of catching up to do and I still owe you all my yearly stats that I do at the beginning of the new year which is also part of my license renewal information. I get later each year but part of that is because each year we seem to grow as a rescue! While this is good it is also harder to say no to surrenders and potential intakes because we keep so darn full, and I honestly cannot ask any more from our volunteers and foster homes because I want them to stay and not burn out. We are trying to keep our placement region reasonable for a bunch of volunteers and yet the cry for help comes from both coasts and up to and down to each border. We simply cannot do all of that as a small group, but at the same time we are all thrilled that our name is so well known around the country, and in such a positive light. One of our many goals when starting the new rescue, known as Rockstar Cocker Rescue, was to be honest with people as well as with ourselves. We have made the rescue a family of people, united in a common goal of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehomeing into loving and caring homes. We do not care if it is a single person, a divorced person, a widower, or partners of same gender, we simply don't care about any of that. We simply want a home that will be loving and care for their new addition(s), and when and if possible, to support us as a family when the need is there. I personally (Lynne) love what I am doing, and I often remind myself that the rescue is not me or mine, but a communtiy of wonderful people I have met over the years. We are happy to incorporate many of Aly's (IL Cocker Rescue) fosters and adopters over time, as well as Elaine's (Shorewood Cocker Rescue), a group I was a part of for eight years, and Nancy and Heidi (WI Cocker Rescue). With those three groups done or shrunk, there is a lot of territory to cover and we do this to the best of our capability. Rescue involves a lot of energy, time and effort to hold it all together, and we are human, and I think for the most part we succeed in our goal of being there.
Despite health issues of the founder and many of our volunteers, we are forging forward at the speed we are capable of and we all thank you for the love and support as well as patience you can give us. Stay tuned! And thank you!
