And with all of the flurry, we had a little girl sneak in quietly this last weekend and so we will introduce her now. Priscilla came to us when another rescue had a large group of dogs needing in and there just were not enough fosters to cover. We offered to take a little cavapoo breeder mom and knew she would foster to health and be ready to go to a forever home quickly. Again, once she was snagged from transport and gotten to her foster mom, it wasn't love at first sight but quickly turned to head over heels love with foster mom Jana. We love Jana because she gives heart and soul for these dogs and whether she fosters or foster fails, it is never a failure for the dog concerned

Another Happy Tails at Rockstar Cocker Rescue is Lemmy! Lemmy came to us as a puppy with cherry eye and so no one wanted to purchase him from the Puppy store photos the SW MO facility has up and we happily took him in to care for his eye. Lemmy was only 17 weeks old when he came to us and now, at 6 months he has done a lot of growing in the nuturing hands of our foster home mom Laura. Lemmy found his people when they spotted his picture on our website and pages. Lemmy will now be living in MN with Daily and Chase Carlson. Congratulations Daily and Chase, and Happy Tails, Lemmy!!

Our next Happy Tails is Kade! Kade came to us from the SW MO facility at 8 mo old. Such a gorgeous boy that is chocolate and white tri coloring, we knew this boy would secure someone's attention quickly. The app that I knew was perfect for him came in as a general "we are looking for, but not locked on" kind of application. As I was reading it over, a message came in from them stating "KADE!! We really want KADE!" And so it became reality. You just know when it is right and the Happy Tails pictures tickle me at the happiness shining from it.
Congratulations to Bradley and Stephen of Chicago, and Happy Tails, Kade!!!

Our next Happy Tails is a very Happy Tails because it is one of our very sweet mill girls that we all have gotten soft over. She went to a terrific home and altho Ellie received a lot of love, a comfortable place to land and a cocker companion to be buddies with, it just didn't feel like home for Ellie. This is no fault of the adopter and it broke her heart but knew she needed something else that would be better for her. We were thrilled to have the Hergert Home of WI apply for her and actually be THAT home for her. We want to thank Pat for working with her so diligently while Ellie was there, and for Emily, initial foster mom, and Christy, new foster home, to work with one another and then The Hergerts, to combine one big family for Ellie. This could be considered a community of love and Ellie is going grow and flourish with it. Ellie just turned 10 yrs old in early May and she deserves all of this love after being a breeder for that same SW MO facility we have been draining.
Congratulations Sheri and Mike, and Happy Forever Tails, Ellie Mae!

Next Rockstar would like to do a Happy Tails that is a week overdue. I don't see where I posted this one so I am doing it now.
Zita, was Zephyr, now Ziva, came to us from the SW MO facility you all have grown tired of hearing about, as a 9 mo old puppy. Zita was very sweet but very high energy and so it took awhile to find just the right spot for her. Ziva is happily making her way in Central IA with Diane and Mark Ash. Congratulations to the Ash Family, and Happy Tails to Ziva! Big thanks to Bethany and family for fostering and hosting the Ashs' when they visited Ziva in her "natural habitat" to get a feel for her character.

Rockstar has a newbie to home sweet home all in one announcment. One of our dear volunteers and adopters informed us of a cocker needing rescue and Rockstar stepped up and got her into rescue. The only reason we could do this is because Sharon not only did much of the information gathering but also offered to foster until we found a solid slot in the rescue for the cocker to land. Little did we all know that sweet cocker would rob Sharon of every feel she could and so Sharon and her hubby are fostering to adopt sweet Ms Dixie as their very own. We are working together to get her vetting updated and completed, but welcome Dixie, and Happy Tails, Dixie all in one

Lots of catching up to do and I still owe you all my yearly stats that I do at the beginning of the new year which is also part of my license renewal information. I get later each year but part of that is because each year we seem to grow as a rescue! While this is good it is also harder to say no to surrenders and potential intakes because we keep so darn full, and I honestly cannot ask any more from our volunteers and foster homes because I want them to stay and not burn out. We are trying to keep our placement region reasonable for a bunch of volunteers and yet the cry for help comes from both coasts and up to and down to each border. We simply cannot do all of that as a small group, but at the same time we are all thrilled that our name is so well known around the country, and in such a positive light. One of our many goals when starting the new rescue, known as Rockstar Cocker Rescue, was to be honest with people as well as with ourselves. We have made the rescue a family of people, united in a common goal of rescuing, rehabilitating and rehomeing into loving and caring homes. We do not care if it is a single person, a divorced person, a widower, or partners of same gender, we simply don't care about any of that. We simply want a home that will be loving and care for their new addition(s), and when and if possible, to support us as a family when the need is there. I personally (Lynne) love what I am doing, and I often remind myself that the rescue is not me or mine, but a communtiy of wonderful people I have met over the years. We are happy to incorporate many of Aly's (IL Cocker Rescue) fosters and adopters over time, as well as Elaine's (Shorewood Cocker Rescue), a group I was a part of for eight years, and Nancy and Heidi (WI Cocker Rescue). With those three groups done or shrunk, there is a lot of territory to cover and we do this to the best of our capability. Rescue involves a lot of energy, time and effort to hold it all together, and we are human, and I think for the most part we succeed in our goal of being there.
Despite health issues of the founder and many of our volunteers, we are forging forward at the speed we are capable of and we all thank you for the love and support as well as patience you can give us. Stay tuned! And thank you!

Hi! I am Lynne, and the Founder of Rockstar Cocker Rescue. Rockstar Cocker Rescue is thrilled to assist Bailing Out Benji with a much needed clinic in Ames, IA area! The clinic is happening tomorrow and there is a huge need, so please consider donating to them to complete the clinic cost and help folks who would keep their pets if they could afford much needed vaccines. We are matching up to $500 in this need and we hope you share this and help.
Rockstar Cocker Rescue not only partners with Bailing Out Benji with this, but we also work together to get dogs out of mills and into loving homes. BOB does much needed boots on the ground in advocating and educating people of the nightmares of puppy mills and the dogs in them that come in atrocious horrid condition.
Please share and consider assisting the community drive to keep pets healthy and homed. Thank you!

PET WELLNESS CLINIC UPDATE:

We just got some wonderful news. Rockstar Cocker Rescue has stepped up with a $500 matching challenge for tomorrow's free Pet Wellness Clinic!

That means every dollar donated for the clinic today will be DOUBLED, up to $500. Remember: each pet costs just $15 to vaccinate and microchip. With this match, $15 from you becomes $30. That's two families who get to keep their pets healthy and safe.

We continue to be amazed by the people in this community who believe that keeping families together matters. If you've been waiting for a sign to give, this is it.
