💨 Strong Winds Thursday 💨
With strong winds and stronger wind gusts expected all day tomorrow, now is the time to think ahead and make sure you're ready for the impacts we might see.

The winds are expected to come from the South and then shift to coming from the Southwest in the afternoon. The shifting wind direction and strong gusts may result in power outages, especially if there are weaker trees/branches near power lines.

Narcan is a lifesaving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Narcan is given as a spray up the nose and can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in 3 minutes.

HEADLINE: Wind Advisory issued June 17 at 12:39PM EDT until June 18 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY

DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...South winds 15 to 25 mph with occasional gusts of 40 to 50
mph expected Thursday morning, becoming southwest Thursday
afternoon.

* WHERE...Wayne, Northern Cayuga, and Oswego Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 AM to 8 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. A few
trees and tree limbs will likely come down, resulting in isolated
power outages.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Fully leafed out trees may result in more
tree damage than with similar wind speeds during the colder months
of the year.

INSTRUCTIONS: Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high
profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Lakeshore Flood Warning issued June 17 at 12:58PM EDT until June 19 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Buffalo NY

DESCRIPTION: * WHAT...Minor lakeshore flooding expected.

* WHERE...Lake Ontario shore of Oswego and Jefferson counties.
Water rises are also possible along the upper Saint Lawrence
River in the Thousand Islands region.

* WHEN...From 2 PM Thursday to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...The combination of high lake levels and significant
wave action may result in minor lakeshore flooding along the
immediate lakeshore, especially in bays, inlets, harbors, and
other low lying areas along the shoreline. Shoreline erosion is
also expected.

INSTRUCTIONS: A Lakeshore Flood Warning means lakeshore flooding is occurring,
is imminent, or is expected to occur. For your safety, stay off
breakwaters, piers, rock outcroppings and beaches! Waves are
often larger than they appear and can easily wash you away.
Expect significant beach erosion and debris, local road closures
and extremely dangerous boating conditions.

Most cardiac arrests happen outside of the hospital, and in those moments, nearly 75% happen at home. It could be someone you love who needs help — and you who steps in.

If you think someone is in cardiac arrest:

1. Call 911 right away and have someone get an AED, if available.
2. Start CPR by pushing hard and fast in the center of the chest — about two inches deep at 100 to 120 beats per minute.
3. Keep going until you see signs of life or help arrives.

Taking a CPR class helps you master these steps and gives you the confidence to act in a real-life emergency.
