We still need volunteers for Fridays. I got this from Cheriann Menges, the coordinator of the program. This will give you a better idea of what's involved.
On Friday mornings at 9 am--volunteers would assist the food educators with prepping food items. This may include getting food items from FUMC or setting up stations, opening cans, cutting vegetables, etc. We would set up an assembly line--kind of like stations for youth to put their meal together. Volunteers may need to assist kids with measuring ingredients or using small appliances. At 10 am and 11 am--the educators will do a quick demo of how to put the meal together. Kids will then line up and prepare their meal in a "make and take" style. Once the youth are done putting the meal together they are free to leave. Depending on space we will either set up in the front conference room or in the back garage area of city place. We'll be wrapping up around 11:45 am and hopefully cleaned up and gone by 12 pm. Our menu for each week is as follows:
6/24: Banana Berry Smoothies (using blenders and blender bikes-hosted by Allegany County Library System)
7/3: Veggie Flatbread with Crispy, Crunchy Eggplant Sticks (using airfryers-hosted by UMD Extension)
7/10: Baked Beans in a mug and Air Fryer Hot Dogs (Microwave and airfryers- hosted by ACLS)
