Some photos of our recent Sustainability Tour around Frostburg. Attendees learned about some of Frostburg's sustainable initiatives, such as the Edible Arboretum, the hydro-turbine, woodland amphitheater and playground, e-bike and EV charging, and electric police cars. There was also a lot of good information shared by participants. The more we learn, the better equipped we are to improve.

“Like” this post if you care about kid’s health!
We certainly do💚

Lead exposure, “it’s from old, lead paint - right?! So a child is exposed to a little bit of lead, what’s the big deal?” …
▪️Lead exposure can actually happen in a variety of ways and there is no “safe level” of lead exposure.
▪️Lead exposure is especially dangerous in children and can cause severe, permanent damage to the brain and central nervous system, lower IQ, slowed growth, learning disabilities, and behavioral problems 😢 ▪️Reducing a child’s risk helps set them up for their best future.

The Allegany County Health Department has helpful information and resources to help us all know more about how/where we may be exposed to lead, and how to reduce our families risk.

Did you know the Frostburg Community Library offers a free local Seed Library program in partnership with the University of Maryland Extension and the Allegany County Master Gardeners? Members of the community can choose vegetable, herb, and flower seeds to grow at home. No formal check out is required. Many varieties are available to choose from. There is also the opportunity to save and return seeds back to the seed library at the end of the season, such as sunflowers. It is not too late to "Get Your Grow On" and do some planting for the season !
