**🍩 It’s National Donut Day! 🍩**

Here at the garden, our volunteers enjoy fresh donuts every Saturday thanks to our wonderful partner, Community Waste Disposal.

And according to many of our guests, they’re the best-tasting donuts around! πŸ˜‹

A big thank-you to Community Waste Disposal for helping make our volunteer mornings a little sweeter. πŸŒ±πŸ’š

Our mission came to life when a dedicated volunteer, Ms Gayla, stopped by just to say hello and introduce her grandson to the garden yesterday. It was a meaningful reminder that the connections built here extend beyond the garden beds, creating a community where people feel welcomed, valued, and inspired to share that experience with others.

🚨 GARDEN SECURITY ALERT 🚨

We finally caught the suspect responsible for the disappearance of several vegetables intended for our food-insecure neighbors.

As you can see, he was apprehended at the scene of the crime, casually posing for a photo with absolutely no remorse.

When questioned, the suspect stated, "I was simply conducting quality control inspections."

Witnesses report he has been seen frequenting the garden, sampling produce, and providing unsolicited feedback on crop selection.

While we appreciate his enthusiasm for fresh, locally grown food, we'd like to remind him that the vegetables are being grown to help feed members of our communityβ€”not the local squirrel population.

If anyone recognizes this individual, please do not approach. He is armed with sharp teeth, lightning-fast reflexes, and an apparent addiction to free produce.

In all seriousness, sharing our garden with a little wildlife is part of the adventure. We just wish our furry friend would consider making a donation before helping himself to the harvest!

πŸ₯”πŸ§…πŸ₯¬ Oh my! Today we had a full house of volunteers. We harvested more onions, our first bed of potatoes, and some Chard. And the St Arbor Greenhouse had fresh butter lettuce! All were delivered to Lovepacs-Little Elm.

A busy and bountiful morning!

Leeks, anyone?

Our leeks absolutely crushed it this growing cycle! Healthy, flavorful, and abundant, they turned out even better than we hoped.

One of the things we love about community gardening is discovering which crops thrive in our garden, and these leeks definitely earned a spot on next season's planting list. From soups and stews to grilling and roasting, they're as versatile as they are delicious. And according to Board Member Kim Salsbury they taste great finally chopped and added to scrambled eggs!

We'll definitely be planting them again! Have you ever grown leeks? We'd love to hear your favorite ways to use them in the kitchen.

A couple of weeks ago, I ran into this young man, and it brought back a lot of great memories.

Caden was one of our youth volunteers before graduating from high school and was the very first recipient of our Youth Volunteer Appreciation Award. He was the definition of dependable. Quiet and unassuming, but every Saturday morning he showed up ready to work. If he couldn't make it, he always let us know. He never complained, never looked for recognition, and never shied away from a task. He simply rolled up his sleeves, put on his headset, and got to work.

People like Caden remind us that leadership isn't always loud. Sometimes it's found in consistency, responsibility, and a willingness to serve others without expecting anything in return.

Caden, we miss having you around the garden, but we know that wherever life takes you, you're going to do great things. Thank you for the time, effort, and heart you invested in our mission.

Stop by and see us when you can. We'll leave the light on for you.
