The risk of flash flooding exists along the Blue Ridge due to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias. This risk is highest along the southern Blue Ridge later today through Sunday morning.

On September 27, 2026, Fries Fire & Rescue was honored and proud to participate in the Truckers Parade Against Cancer!

It was a privilege to join so many wonderful people and organizations coming together for such an important cause. Events like this remind us of the strength of our communities and the importance of standing together in the fight against cancer. 💜

🔥🚒 FIRE & PUBLIC SAFETY IN OUR COMMUNITY 🚔🔥

Fries Fire & Rescue Assistant Chief King and Second Lieutenant Hall, along with Grayson County Sheriff G.C. Hash, recently had the opportunity to meet with our senior citizens here in Fries for an afternoon focused on fire safety, emergency preparedness, and public safety.

Assistant Chief King and Second Lieutenant Hall went over important fire safety tips and provided a hands-on demonstration of the protective gear our firefighters wear when responding to emergencies.

Sheriff G.C. Hash also shared valuable public safety information from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office and answered questions from those in attendance.

We appreciate everyone who joined us and gave us the opportunity to spend some time with members of our community. Programs like this help strengthen the relationship between our first responders, law enforcement, and the citizens we are proud to serve.

A special thank you to our senior citizens for the warm welcome and great participation!

A steady day for crews, taking in 2 MVC’s and a water Rescue.

First MVC, Tones set at 02:09AM for MVC.
Arriving units found a single vehicle over the bank, coming to rest on its top and in the creek. All occupants were out of the vehicle on arrival and sustained minor injuries.

2nd MVC, Tones set at 05:49PM. MVC. Dispatch advising that a motorcycle wrecked, with one person possibly in the roadway.
Arriving units confirmed this information, finding one patient in the roadway, which was handed off to EMS and transported to TCRH hospital with NLT injuries.

Tones set: 10:31PM. Water Rescue. Dispatch stating that 3 adults and 1 child were stranded on the river. Galax Fire was requested for Manpower and additional Boats due to the nature of the incident.

Arriving units began searching the riverbank via provided coordinates, along with Grayson County Sheriffs Deputies. Prior to placing boats in the water, C-14 and GCSO located the subjects on the riverbank and was able to lead them safely back to emergency vehicles. 3 Adults and 1 Child were successfully rescued and were transported back to their vehicles with no injuries.
