Wishes & More Wishes & More provides a wish...and more to local kids fighting a life-threatening condition!

Wishes & More was established in November 2004 and we are proud to be a Minnesota Charity who supports our own. We fill in the gaps in service from other larger, national organizations and ensure that we do everything in our power to create a unique, hands-on, and individual experience for each child who comes to us for support. As you can imagine, this requires a lot of experience and volunteer s

upport. Of our seven staff members, three are focused in program services and are assisted by over 150 dedicated volunteers and 12 unpaid board members including our “acting Executive Director” and Volunteer President, Karla Blomberg.

Seven-year-old Cade is a busy little guy from Eden Prairie. He came to Wishes & More as he was receiving treatment for a brain tumor, and when our volunteers visited him, he talked about all his favorites - playing outside, riding his bike, going to the playground and doing arts & crafts. He also shared that Stitch is his favorite character and he wished to meet him on a Disney Cruise! Cade, his big brother, and parents spent a week out at sea and had the time of their lives creating wonderful family memories. Cade met all of his favorite characters - including Stitch! He also loved the Kids Club activities and enjoyed ALL kinds of food onboard the beautiful cruise ship. We also heard that our friends at Delta gave him the best send-off in the Sky Club, and he received a personal greeting from the pilot! Dad shared, “Thank you again for giving Cade a memory of a lifetime and allowing tons of different people to celebrate him.” We’re hoping this time away from home will remain a joyful and beautiful memory for this great family!

Griffin was a typical developing, energetic kiddo until age 5, when his life changed with the onset of seizures. Because his seizure-triggers remain unknown and his episodes occur frequently, he can no longer enjoy the jumping and running around he used to love. Too much stimulation or noise increases his risk, so his family must watch over him closely at all times. Now at age eight, Griffin’s wish was to visit a place with a calming, family-friendly environment with opportunities to golf and swim. They found Big Cedar Lodge near the Ozarks in MO and it turned out to be the most incredible adventure for this family of five! Mom’s heartfelt thank you says it all, “Griffin had an unforgettable time golfing, fishing, boating, swimming, bowling, visiting the arcade, relaxing in the hot tub, enjoying nature, spending time outdoors, ordering room service, and even spotting a few skunks outside our cabin door! Every part of the trip was special, and we are so thankful for the memories your organization helped create for our family.” Big thanks to the Uhl Family for adopting this special wish and to Big Cedar Lodge for their hefty donation towards the accommodations. We hope Griffin’s seizures stay controlled and that this family vacation will be a memory they will cherish forever!

Four-year-old Loyalty is a sweetheart to her very core. She was all smiles when our Wish Wizards visited her home to find out what her top wishes would be. She met them at her front door with hugs and an array of toys to immediately do a show-and-tell of each of them! Although she battles a severe respiratory condition, she still loves to dance and sing - especially to Frozen and Moana’s greatest hits. Disney was the top choice for her and her three siblings - two sets of twins! As you can see by the photos, she loved meeting the characters and spent her time generously giving out her trademark hugs! They visited Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, the Universal parks, and Sea World - but the highlight of the trip was meeting her favorite character, Moana! We’re so happy we were able to grant a wish for this sweet little lady and her loving family!

We are thrilled to recognize our friends, Mike and Heidi Hrudka, owners of the popular The Tipsy Steer restaurants, as our August Supporters of the Month!

They have been there since the beginning and they have supported us in every way possible. From Golf and Winter Ball attendees to sponsors, from volunteers to generous donors, to direct wish underwriters, to passionate advocates for our mission. They even created a special Wishes & More menu item at all three Tipsy Steer locations to help support local wish kids and families!

As Mike shared:
"We love the fact that Wishes & More stays connected with the Wish Kids and families. It's amazing to see the kids going off to school, hear how they're doing, and that WAM stays in touch beyond the Wish. That's what gets me the most—the connection and caring long after the Wish!"

Their commitment has become a true family tradition. As Heidi shared:
"This last year we were all able to attend the Ball together. It was wonderful. We're happy to have passed this on to the next generation and look forward to them becoming more involved with WAM."

Just a few of fifteen-year-old Dexter’s favorite things are trains, dinosaurs, sharks, and museums - so we included all of them into one memorable wish trip to Chicago! Dexter came to Wishes & More as he battled a brain tumor, and we were proud to support this young man with a jam-packed adventure to the Windy City! After an Amtrak train brought them to their destination, they visited the Shedd Aquarium, the Field Museum, and the Museum of Science and Industry. To make the experience even more extraordinary, the Museum of Science and Industry opened its doors a little early just for Dexter, giving him a calm, quiet start to the day and a private tour before the museum welcomed other guests - a true VIP experience! After each day of exploring, Dexter and his family relaxed at their hotel, where the pool was the perfect way to recharge before the next adventure. We also want to thank The Field Museum for surprising Dexter with a special merch package filled with museum keepsakes, giving him lasting reminders of his once-in-a-lifetime wish trip. We are so glad Dexter imagined a wish that brought together all of his passions and that we were able to help make his incredible vision come to life!
