Reign of Terror: ". . .as a child, I can still recall while working in the fields, the cry of the children being pulled away from their mother's arms as the families were separated and put into different busses. A good number of those families were never reunited again. This happened in the Salinas and Coachella Valleys, the year was 1957. Although I can no longer remember the faces, the cries of the families being torn apart still haunt me and the nightmares often visit me." To this day as I travel new roads and what remains of the old roads from Sacramento to San Jose, to Salinas and Watsonville, from Hollister to Coachella and all points in between there are people who are the children, now in their golden years, who have not forgotten their parents or siblings. They have not lost faith and their hope is not diminished. For them that is all that is left and that is what in their thinking continues to keep the families alive. La esperanza y la fe del pueblo vale por mucho. Mi gente, mi pueblo, reach out to your closest paisano or paisana, these hardships makes all brothers and sisters. We have each other!
