Google has announced 34 cities they are considering for Google Fiber development, unfortunately Fresno isn't one of them. The California cities in contention are all in the Bay Area. http://arstechnica.com/business/2014/02/google-fiber-chooses-nine-metro-areas-for-possible-expansion/

34 cities will try to convince Google they're worthy of gigabit fiber.

It's not fiber, but today Google announced an expansion of their balloon-distributed internet testing in the Central Valley. Called "Project Loon," Google is looking for Central Valley residents who are willing to mount antennas to their homes to test the new system.
