Unger Zareh Apkarian from the Armenian Youth Federation Fresno “Kevork Chavoush” Chapter had the honor of speaking at this mornings Annual Flag Ceremony at Fresno City Hall. His powerful words and unwavering resolve spoke to all of us, expressing what many have been thinking for years. Being the first to speak, we continue to see an increasing importance and respect for the voice of the youth. Grateful for the opportunity to speak the AYF is committed to representing its community, nation, and people. We will not stand silent. We will not stop. We will remain.

This is Day 24 of AYF Fresno’s 24 Days of Action Campaign.

Day 24: Recognizing the Armenian Genocide
Mayor Dyer focuses on the cultural impact of the Armenian community in the Central Valley and Fresno. His message reminds us today that despite the attempts to erase a people, our Armenian community has only grown stronger and more vital to our Valley’s story. Thank you Mayor Dyer.

Day 24: Recognizing the Armenian Genocide
Congressman Costa emphasizes the formal recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the United States, and advocates for humanitarian aid for those displaced from Artsakh. We must continue to share our stories and speak up to prevent future atrocities and ensure that history is never ignored. Thank you Congressman Costa.

Day 24: Recognizing the Armenian Genocide

Mayor Vong Mouanoutoua of the City of Clovis has officially proclaimed April 24th as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, recognizing the systematic destruction of the Armenian people beginning in 1915. Clovis is not only home to the only Armenian school in all of Central California, the Charlie Keyan Armenian Community School, but has long been a cornerstone of the Armenian-American community in the Central Valley. For a city with such deep Armenian roots, this recognition is more than symbolic, it is a declaration that our history will not be forgotten.

We are grateful to Mayor Mouanoutoua for his leadership and his commitment to standing with the Armenian community of Clovis.

This is Day 24 of AYF Fresno’s 24 Days of Action Campaign.
