Meet our Community Environmental Health Intern, Sarah Cuenco! 💙

A recent UC Merced graduate with a degree in Human Biology, Sarah hopes to become a pediatrician one day. She’s passionate about healthcare and loves working with children. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys exploring San Francisco’s food scene, trying new restaurants, and adding her favorites to her growing recommendation list.

CCAC attended the inaugural Resilient California Summit in Sacramento, joining organizations, community leaders, and experts from across the state to explore strategies for building stronger, more climate-resilient communities.
 
The three-day summit focused on turning climate science into action through meaningful conversations, interactive sessions, and collaboration. Attendees explored practical solutions, policies, and funding opportunities to advance climate resilience while highlighting the importance of community leadership and partnerships in addressing the growing impacts of climate change.
 
We’re grateful for opportunities to connect with partners, exchange ideas, and learn from others working toward a healthier, more equitable, and resilient future for California’s communities.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a week since we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the first fully electrified home completed through our Kern CASA project in Bakersfield! 🏡

This milestone marks an important step toward healthier, more energy-efficient homes for local families. A special thank-you to GRID Alternatives for capturing these moments and sharing these wonderful photos! We’re grateful to have such amazing partners helping low-income families make the switch to solar and access cleaner energy solutions.

CCAC’s Kern-CASA project is receiving local media coverage! Our recent celebration in Bakersfield marked the completion of the project’s first fully electrified home at no cost to the homeowner, an important milestone in expanding access to healthier, more energy-efficient homes.

CCAC attended the Clean Mobility Forum in Sacramento, bringing together partners and advocates to explore solutions for more equitable and accessible clean transportation.

Hosted by the Clean Mobility Equity Alliance (CMEA) Team, and funded by the California Air Resources Board and the California Energy Commission, the two-day event featured workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities to share experiences, challenges and lessons learned in advancing shared mobility and clean transportation for all communities.

We’re grateful for opportunities to connect with partners and support efforts toward a healthier, more equitable future for California communities.

One home can make a world of difference. 💙🏡

CCAC recently celebrated the completion of the first fully electrified home through the Kern-CASA project, bringing no-cost home upgrades to help families improve indoor air quality and energy efficiency.

For Maria Perez and her family, these upgrades mean cleaner air to breathe at home and one less worry when it comes to managing household expenses.

“When you’re on a fixed income and living with asthma, you have to worry about your bills first before your health. These upgrades will help my electricity bill not be as high and give me cleaner air to breathe at home. I hope more programs like this become available, because it has made a real difference for me and my family.” — Maria Perez, Homeowner.
