On behalf of Trans-E-Motion’s community and leadership, we express our enduring love, gratitude, and admiration for Dolores Huerta, who passed away today. Words cannot adequately capture the profound impact she has had on the world, and especially on California’s Central Valley. Dolores stood fearlessly alongside members of our community and countless others experiencing economic, political, social, and historical oppression. Her lifelong commitment to justice, dignity, and collective action has inspired generations and will continue to do so.
Our Trans-E-Motion Board extends its love and heartfelt condolences to Dolores’ family, chosen family, and all those whose lives she has touched.
We were deeply honored to have Dolores join us for the City of Fresno’s first LGBTQ+ Pride Flag-raising ceremony, where Trans-E-Motion was recognized for our advocacy addressing housing insecurity within Fresno’s LGBTQ+ community through the first public report of its kind in the city. Having Dolores stand with us on that occasion was a meaningful recognition of the importance of this work and the dignity of the community we serve.
Thank you, Dolores, for honoring us that day and for a lifetime of courage, advocacy, and unwavering commitment to justice. Your words continue to guide and inspire us:
“Every moment is an organizing opportunity, every person a potential activist, every minute a chance to change the world.” — Dolores Huerta (2003)
We will carry your legacy forward by continuing to organize, advocate, and work toward a world where every person can live with dignity, safety, and belonging. Your impact will live on in the movements you helped build, the communities you empowered, and the countless lives you changed.
With enduring love and gratitude,
Trans-E-Motion
