Charlie – Female Tri-Color Bernedoodle, 2 Years Old, 50 lbs (on site soon)

Charlie’s mission in life is simple: kisses, cuddles, and constant companionship.

This beautiful 2-year-old, 50-pound tri-colored Bernedoodle has a gentle, affectionate personality and a balanced energy level that makes her a wonderful companion for many types of families. Charlie is friendly with cats, gets along well with both large and small dogs, and is gentle and appropriate with young children, including those under five years old.

Charlie loves being close to her people. Whether she’s climbing into your lap for kisses, snuggling up beside you for cuddles, or following you from room to room, she is happiest when she’s part of the family’s daily life. She also enjoys playing fetch, chasing squeaky toys, and spending time interacting with her favorite humans.

She currently knows “sit” and “stay” and is continuing to improve her leash-walking skills. Charlie is eager to please and enjoys learning when positive encouragement is involved.

Charlie’s ideal home is with an active family or individual who can include her in everyday activities and provide the companionship she craves. She thrives when she feels connected and involved, and she will reward her family with endless love, loyalty, and affection.
If you would like to learn more about Charlie, please complete an adoption application today at www.labrescuefresno.org. She is ready to find the forever family she has been waiting for. ❤️🐾

Tyson – Black Male X, 1 year, 65 lbs.

Are you ready for Summer? How about starting it off with a new canine companion? We have the perfect guy for you. Tyson came to the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Fresno when he was just 3 days old, along with his mother and 5 siblings, after they were found in a porta-potty.

Tyson gets along well with other dogs having been raised in foster homes with multiple dogs.

He has not been introduced to cats, so we cannot guarantee he would be feline-friendly. He is good with everything, including kids, according to his foster. Although he is presently very shy when meeting new people, with patience and a little time, Tyson warms up and is a “sweetheart” according to his fosters. The most important thing a new family will need with Tyson is patience and love while he settles in to a new home and learns to trust.

Tyson is crate-trained, potty trained and doggie-door trained. He likes to travel with his family and has been on two camping trips recently where he was very well behaved, as well as trips to the beach. His leash skills are improving and his fosters are also working with him on basic commands. He likes playing with his toys, and while he may “fetch” a ball, that does not necessarily mean bringing it back.

If you would like to learn more and think Tyson might be a fit for your family, please visit our website at https://labrescuefresno.org and submit your application to adopt.

Gizmo – Chocolate Male Mix, ~5 years, 55 lbs 🤎

Hi there! I’m Gizmo, and I’m currently testing the couch cushion quality at my foster home while I await my forever family. Could that be you?

A little back story. I had a family, or so I thought. But I wasn’t really part of their busy lives. Five years as a backyard dog. When they finally realized they were never going to have time for me, they contacted the Defenders of the Unwanted, Lab Rescue of Fresno.

New home, new life. I’m quickly learning what life indoors is like, and I love it. I’ve had a few faux pas, like eating things off the counter, but hey, I’m learning quickly what’s mine and what’s not.

Foster Dad says I’m gentle, goofy, and a quick learner. I have a PhD. in cuddling and giving gentle kisses. My absolute favorite thing in the world is fetch. Eating breakfast? You can still throw the ball with your free hand! Working in the yard? Take a break and get the Chuck-it out and just try to wear me down. When your arm is tired, I’m cooling off in the water bucket, I love to splash after fetch.

I’m a people pleaser. You should see me work the crowd at Farmers Market. And when you get home, my whole body wiggles with excitement. Dad says he needs shin guards my tail wags so hard.

Gizmo is learning fast how to be an indoor member of the family. He has a 7 out of 10 energy level. My foster mom says I’m trying to cram 5 years of loneliness into 5 hours of attention. He gets along great with his foster brother and has met kids of all ages at Farmers Market and loves them all. He walks well on a leash, sits, and comes to his name. He uses his crate as his safe space. He’ll be great with an active family that can devote time to continued training and daily exercise (any runners out there need a partner?).

If you think Gizmo might be the perfect fit for your home, or if you have questions for his foster, please fill out an adoption application on our website at: www.labrescuefresno.org🐾

Rusty – Chocolate Male X, 7 years, 55 lbs.

Say hello to Rusty, a lovable 7-year-old chocolate Lab mix with a heart as big as his adorable puppy-dog eyes. 💙

Rusty is the definition of an easygoing companion. He’s the kind of dog who is happy doing just about anything as long as he’s with his people. Want an adventure buddy? Rusty is ready. Want to spend the afternoon relaxing on the couch? He’s already claimed the cuddle spot beside you.

This sweet boy gets along great with dogs of all sizes and absolutely enjoys spending time playing with his foster brother. He’s also wonderful with children of all ages and has the gentle, patient personality that makes everyone around him feel comfortable. Rusty is potty trained, crate trained, well behaved in the home, and knows his basic commands like the good boy he is.

Some of Rusty’s favorite things include zooming around the backyard, taking relaxing naps, enjoying couch cuddles, and cooling off with a little dip in the pool. He’s even learned how to safely find the stairs and climb out on his own after swimming, smart and adorable!

Rusty would thrive in a home where he can continue being part of the family and included in everyday life. While he loves other dogs, he would do best in a home without cats.

If you’re searching for a loyal best friend with a calm spirit, playful side, and endless love to give, Rusty is waiting to meet you. One cuddle from this boy, and you’ll understand why everyone falls in love with him. 🐾 Apply for Rusty at www.labrescuefresno.org

Brei – Black Female, 9 years, 65 lbs.

At 9 years old, Brei (short for Breeze), thought she had already found her forever story. For years, she lived beside the person she loved most — following him from room to room, napping quietly nearby, and greeting every day with her soft wagging tail and gentle eyes. She was his shadow, his comfort, and his very best friend.

But when her beloved owner passed away, her whole world changed.

Even through the sadness, she has remained the same beautiful soul she has always been — calm, loving, patient, and wonderfully well-mannered. She’s the kind of dog who doesn’t ask for much. A cozy place to nap, kind words, and someone to love are more than enough for her.

She has been a pampered house pet her entire life and it shows in all the best ways. She’s perfectly house trained, crate trained, and knows exactly how to settle in like a little lady. At bedtime, or whenever she needs comfort, she quietly walks herself right into her crate to sleep or patiently wait for instructions. No fuss, no chaos — just a gentle heart wanting to please.

Brei is dog friendly, cat friendly, and incredibly easygoing with everyone she meets. She’s used to a dog door and happily keeps her routine simple and tidy. Her favorite thing is simply being near people, soaking up affection, and offering quiet companionship in return.

She may be a senior girl, but her heart is full of love and loyalty just waiting for another family to share it with. After losing the person she loved most, she deserves a soft landing, a warm bed, and someone who will remind her that she is still safe, still cherished, and still home.

If you’re looking for a calm, faithful best friend with the sweetest soul, this beautiful Black Lab is waiting patiently for her second chance. Apply for Brei at www.labrescuefresno.org

Buffy – Yellow Female, 1 year, 60 lbs. (on site soon)

Meet Buffy — The Chosen One

In every generation, there is a chosen one. She alone will stand against the tennis balls, the squirrels and the forces of darkness. She is the Labrador.

Well, our Buffy isn't fighting the undead, but she is fully prepared to slay your heart! This 1 year old, 60 lb. yellow labrador retriever is ready to leave the Hellmouth behind and find her forever Scooby Gang. If you are looking for a gorgeous, high-energy sidekick who is equal parts brains, beauty, and absolute drive, Buffy is your girl.

Her signature move? Fetch. Endless fetch. Buffy is absolutely obsessed and would happily patrol the backyard for rogue tennis balls from sunrise to sundown. She’s fast, focused, and determined. Basically, the canine equivalent of staking vampires before breakfast.

This girl is smart, learns at supernatural speeds, and is highly motivated to please. Buffy thrives when she is given clear direction and boundaries. Because she is a young, high-energy lab with a lot of drive, Buffy isn't looking to be a couch potato. She needs a job. Whether that job is advanced obedience, agility courses, dock diving, or becoming an adventure buddy, she is ready for a structured outlet for that brilliant brain and drive. She wants to work with you, and with the right training, she is going to be an absolute save the world level Slayer.

If you’re searching for a clever, active, fetch powered best friend who’s ready to slay every adventure by your side, Buffy is waiting to meet you. Apply for Buffy at www.labrescuefresno.org

COURTESY POST - PLEASE SHARE:

Selma contacted us a week ago about this beautiful girl named River. We receive requests almost daily from shelters, owner surrenders, and found dogs. It’s heartbreaking because we simply cannot help them all. River desperately needs a safe place to land — whether that’s through a foster under rescue or someone willing to step up and adopt this sweet girl. GO ADOPT!!

River appears to have had untreated ear infections for quite some time, something we unfortunately see far too often. Her ears will need treatment, and of course we are willing to help with her medical care and getting her spayed if we can find a foster. If you are local and wish to help, please see: https://labrescuefresno.org/become-a-foster/

From the shelter:

“River came in as a stray on 4/24/26. She is estimated to be 1–2 years old, female, intact. She is your typical happy-go-lucky girl. She loves playing in the yard, jumping in the pools, and playing fetch. She is good with dogs with proper introductions and has been making friends. She is very loving and absolutely loves butt scratches.”

“I am not sure if your rescue has any availability at all to assist River, but we would be very appreciative of even a courtesy post if able.”

River is currently at Selma Animal Services. Please contact:
